|

Ok fellas ive set out to advance the timing on my EL.
Now ive hooked up the timing light on plug 1 shine it down on timing marks and im seeing the mark on the harmonic balancer bout 20mm before the mark on the block, now this would mean it is advanced quite a bit wouldnt it? so the place that did the gas install must of advanced it
Cheers for the help |

| Have u set the the engine to "self test" mode ? if not the reading you get will be advanced. If your saying about 20mm from TDC thats about right not in self test mode. |

| tried both and made no difference, there is a coolant stain on harmonic balancer which is wat i could be seeing as a timing mark |

i belive to advance timing it would be anti clockwise, as the rotor inside spins clockwise.
Correct me if im wrong... |

thats wat i found spinning clockwise looks like retarding, undoing 13mm bolt holding dizzy on i then pulled it away from block, which spins it anticlockwise, there seems to be a lot more movement anticlockwise compared to clockwise.
It showing up as advanced now and it feels a bit better so it all good, might advance it a little more later
Cheers |
