| Mark's EF is a looker guys, it has the best looking engine bay for an EFI six that I've ever seen. The attention to detail is amazing. Good work mate.

yea pretty much, this is what i did,
first i used paint stripper to get the greyish stuff off.
then sandered it with 180 grit wet then 240 wet then 400wet.,
i used a few other grits in between but cant remember what numbers.
then i used some very fine dry stuff its not paper, its like steel wool but extremely fine.
then to get the shine i used a buffing machine with lambs wool on it and metal polish called autosol.

yea it does attract heat, but i dont think there are any serious problems with it.
what i did is buy another rocker cover and polish that up rather than polish it while its on the car.

yeah that wouldve been smart and alot easier but i was trying to do it supercheap. now i just spend alot of time hunched over the engine bay in the front yard instead of infront of the tv.

Hi, just a quick question. it might seem dumb, but il ask anyways .
When you take the rocker cover off, do you need to replace any gasgets, or does anything spring out ( dont know much about cars yet) , or can you just un bolt, polish and bolt back on?
thanks alot.
P.S i am new, and thanks to everyone for all the fantastic Info used so far.

nothing will fly out, so dont be worried about that.
its fairly easy to take off, just 4 bolts and undo the hose that goes to the brake booster, and undo the cruisecontrol and accelereator cable from the throtle body.
if your gasket is not damaged than re use it, thats what i did.

I thought I would post this... Its the proper way to polish metal. Although From my experience if your using softer metal try not to use the nylon wheel first just sand it until its clean.
