Fella's,
I know this seems similar to another thread on here about cross drilled v's slotted, but I want to know if anyone has had any trouble with insurance after the fitment of either cross drilled or slotted rotors? (and i didn't want to hijack that thread!)
Has anyone even told thier insurance company about the fitment?
Just wondering cos i am considering putting a set on my car!

| Duty of disclosure suggests you would have to tell them, even if they dont ask. Not sure how much it would affect premium by.... |

| Martin may disagree, with a good reason, however i'd like to think that the premium would drop when you fit bigger brakes, and safer tyres. |

Maybe try an online quote at JCI... then submit another with brake modifications. See what happens....
Should be fairly indicative. Most insurer's actuaries use similar data sets and will treat most mods similarly.
Or, just phone and ask.... help keep call centre people employed! |

Most insurance companies state that you don't need to disclose items that reduce the risk, ie security systems, better brakes. That you only need to disclose anything that increases the risk. In other words, their only interested if its going to increase the premium, not the other way around.
No such thing as a fair world! |

Be sure if it was a turbo you were telling them about they'd sit up and take notice, and then the premium would skyrocket. |

On teh flip side of that coin, the insurance company could take the position that, with better brakes and better tyres, you might overestimate your new found performance and actually get yourself into trouble instead of out of trouble.
But insurance companies seem to only worry about V8s and turbos.... they worry about lowering and uprating suspension aswell and, although it will increase stopping distances if not done right, it's generally safer. |
