Okay.
Lot of questions about Vista getting around. Lot of people who have resolved such issues as well.
This thread is intended as a means for question havers and answer givers to come together.
Try and keep it on topic, plenty of other threads for abusing microsoft in... |

For those that would like to make a custom Vista install disc, use vlite: http://www.vlite.net/
It will allow you to automate the install, and remove useless features, integrate programs/drivers etc.
So that everytime you refromat and install, your greeted with Vista the way you want it.
I havn't used it, but I'm a big fan of nlite for XP, and it should work in a similar fashion. |

If I could get sound I would also be happy with Vista. It's running perfectly on my laptop with all the XP drivers. |

| I have a question. I just installed vista, and everything looks kind of fuzzy, makes text hard to read. Why would this be? |

Yes, I've done all of that. Correct resolution, proper fonts, installed drivers. It's not very fuzzy. It's almost negligible. It really gets to you when you spend a bit of time on the computer though.
As far as my impression of vista, I don't like it. It's too busy, and some things are needlessly complicated. I have lost a bit of performance but it's a lot better than I thought it would be. Starts faster than xp though. |

| oh yeah, a huge performance loss if you use the side panel thing, it uses an extra 90mb ram on its own, could help you |

Lol, done and done. And I mean done.
It's still not the same though.

I found the side panel annoying so I turned it off straight away, but I never noticed it using 90mb of ram. In fact, my computer uses about 34 just idling, and about 40 with that thing on. |

Gadgets suck the big one.
So what's the go with this fuzzy screen? What kinda monitor and card do ya have?
If its LCD just mash the auto button...
You dual booting XP? Vista sucks donkeys balls for gaming unless youve got 2gb ram and a $800 vid card lol. |

Nah it's not an LCD, just an old CRT unit, and the card is just the integrated motherboard one. Nvidia, Geforce 6100 chip.
It's hard to describe, but you don't notice the fuzzyness at all, until you've been using the computer for about 15 minutes. It's not there in games like LFS, just on your normal desktop activities. It's not that big of a deal, because I mostly use XP anyway.
I'm actually not dual booting XP.. I'm triple booting XP. I have my normal XP, and a skin and bones XP pro. It's the shiz, as they say. All the useless junk has been taken out, makes he computer a lot faster. The only problem is the fact that I've had to install all the programs I frequently use, thrice. |
