i had a hard michelin 255 tyre, and it would smoke second gear in the dry.
I have cheapy sava intensa 235 tyres under it now, and it won't chirp second (not bad for cheap tyre i reckon).
My car is manual btw.

I have Sava 235's on mine at the moment, I'm rather impressed with the tyres. With my old 205's I would spin not just chirp after grabing 2nd gear hard. Now it wont even chirp! :/ When I'm racing i'm grabing gears really hard and dropping the clutch, not that it grips I think it's putting heaps of load on my diff, box, clutch icon_sad.gif

yeah it puts alot of pressure on the diff, to the extent that mine is on its way out.

I used to have really bad traction problems with my EA's... both had 3.23 LSD in them. In the wet, I would turn a wide corner at 30 kms, and the back end would slip out... and I'd s**t myself.

I ended up doing an 180 one night, sideways up a gutter and planted my Ghia into someones fence, broke the steering arm, and pushed the chassis up in the middle. The tyres were not bald, and they had heaps of tread depth... police said they were hard compound.

After that incident I decided when I bought my next EA fairmont that I got some Bridgestone Potenzas 60/225 fitted... $680.

I now find it EXTREMELY difficult to spin the back out at all... I can only get them to smoke up in a full lock turn and booting it...

To this day, I still believe those tyres were the best investment I made in my EA.
