Well finally sick and tired of the squealing fan belt at start up on my EB2 i decided to do something about it. Went to Ford got quoted $15, though I bet I can do better at the wreckers, but no $25 for a used one. So finally Ford come good for me, some things are cheaper and its new! My teeth things were worn and I couldn't tighten it up enough.
No offence to wreckers out there but some things are cheaper at Ford

Yep, common problem. Thats something which has been replaced on my car, chickens car and ch0c0's car in recent times.
I think ch0c0 got a couple for $12 or $13 from coventry |

| quoted $20 from ford. the bloke suggested i go to the wrecker around the corner. $10 for the bracket, water pump pulley and a spare belt. (a used belt but it mite come in handy.) one of the only downsides to the eb2. the bloody sqeeling fanbelts |

Heck yeah! THe belts get really annoying. I had a problem with throwing belts, and ended up throwing a total of four before I figured i wasnt getting it quite tight enough. I tried to buy a new bracket and gear to go with it, but the gear is now obsolete. I got a brand new bracket, but it doesnt look like i can remove the old bracket without removing the waterpump pulley. When the bolt is taken almost all the way out it hits the back of the pulley. So i got a used gear, and managed to get that to sit right. Works a charm now, and doesnt chuck a belt every second day leaving me stranded. Havent lost one in about 4 months though it needs retightening. Just started squealing again  |

| Remember we were in an underground car parking lot when our EB Fairmont started doing it and the noise was awful, echoing and all that too. |

Ok whats this about removing the water pump pulley, this better not be a prick of a job to do, just need to replace the bracket, from what i can see there's two bolts. Well I'm out to the car to get the workshop manual.

Depends on what model, EA,EB & ED the pulley was botted onto a flange on the waterpump. EF, EL ( onwards I think) the pulley is pressed on to the waterpump shaft. |

| You shouldnt have to, there just isnt enough clearance on my car to get the bracket off without removing it, or at least almost removing it |

Well all done and thanks guys for your advice! I should have taken some pics and made a tutorial but didn't think of it till I was putting it back together. But was fun, had to borrow the 32mm spanner of an uncle, take shroud and fan out together off with the water pump pulley (what a prick to keep still, bloody 10mm nuts) then off with the bracket, piece of piss. Burnt myself on extractors though  Now gonna save money for thermos cause without the fan it is so quiet!
