Ok peoples,

When I finally get around to buying all the gear required to turbo my EL Fairmont, Just wanted to know what inlet manifold is better?

Either the ED style manifold or the BBM with the butterflys removed?

Or should I go custom?

Ive been doing my research and most likely the turbo will be a gt42 roller bearing garret.
So im aiming for around 400-450rwhp which is easily done. I will of a*** be modifyng everything else to suit and a full engine rebuild, But was unsure of the inlet manifold? Any ideas?
Also if custom made, Who would be good to go to?

Pyroay is using a BBM for 400ish ATW so BBM will get you there. The route that your intercooler to T/B pipe takes with the BBM could be improved with a custom manifold similar to the ones the nizpro BA XR6T's and all the ricer boys use (shorter pipe from cooler to T/B, more responsive, pipe stays cooler) if you got some extra coin. Mick's Metalcraft 02 9755 7137 do good custom pieces. The website is www.micksmetalcraft.com but it's not working for me.

ED over the EL unit for sure but if you wanna stretch another grand or so get a custom made but in realitiy you should only get a custom manifold made once you have the turbo produing some good numbers and are looking for more.
The real idea of the bigger volume plenum is not for the "ricer" but for those who run large boost that the stock plenum cannot flow.
Do a searce on calaisturbo forum and you will see all the benefits a big volume plenum can provide.
But the stocky EA EB ED will suport 300kw@ wheels ok.

Didn't it put out 325rwkw just before that but you already had the sign made up?

Yes i have played around with a couple of different boost options and fuel mixes and we got high 320's and even one run of 331rwkw but it needed a fair bit more boost to get that and i felt it wasn't worth the extra pressure on everything for such a small amount more power.

There are other restrictions in the system that would provide the extra power without the need for additional boost.

Thanks everyone,

When you say your thinking of selling yours, do you mean the manifold or what?

The question that I wanted to know was, Which manifold was better either the bbm or ed style?

And with the power I want are the standard manifolds restricting power?

Cause that white ea,eb,ed that I saw on here somewhere had a custom plenum that looked awsum and its producing 612rwhp!!!

Pyroay. Nice setup man! What engine mods do you have to support that power?
