| If i was going to upgrade from a EB I'd probably go for something a bit more modern. In my opinion there is not much point upgrading from an EB to an EF, they are such a similar car same suspension, same engine (V8) the diffrences are purely asthetic. Personally i'd go for an AU or BA but they also cost a hell of a lot more.... |

I have worked on and admired EB Ghia's, don't go backwards by purchasing a EF/EL model, jump further ahead or keep it.
EB/ED Ghia seats are far better looking seats than EF/EL Ghia, EF/EL Ghia leather didn't look much new and with a bit of wear they look shocking.
For a start you don't have window and lock problems do you? |

I have to agree with what others are saying. While the EF-EL models are great cars in their own right there is not a great advancement over the EB-ED models.
Try for an AU or even a BA, but if you can't afford it stick with what you have. |

Personally, I like the EF/EL Fairmont & XR shape far better than the AU's. The interior of the EL is a definate upgrade from the EB/ED as well.
Car's are like women, it's all down to personal choice. Some like them a bit younger - some like the curves - but in the end we like them all.

I'd have to agree there..
When i was looking around for a new car, i had the option of going for either a 1998 AU1 XR8, black, 5 speed with 120,000kms for 16,000 or an EL1 XR8, metallic blue, 5 speed, 79,000kms for the exact same price, both in mint condition.. I went with the EL, they look so much sportier/aggressive & they dont look like a space ship like the AU's
..but hey, thats my opinion anyway. Each to their own i guess!
Oh yeah, and my neighbour own an AUIII XR8 with the full premium interior. He has owned XR8's all his life. He still prefers my EL interior over his AUIII leather interior!! ..dont understand why myself though, i love the AUIII interiors myself! |

| well she is insured for $9640 so I would only sell it if (a)found a upgrade ride for me(b)it would have to be apreciated for what it is as I'm the 3RD owner and its being well looked after body & interior wise, the first owner was FORD as it was a city ford managers car. |

an unfortunate accident/theft would probably make you the most money out of it sad but true. |

| Had I been interested I would not have been paying that much money for an EB with that many klick's. No way. |

When looking for my car, there were a fair few ghia's on the market both I6 & 8 and with around 200,00 on the clock with all the options you have (except sun roof) they were asking 8,500 minimum.
I reckon 9,500 or there abouts is top dollar for that car, but if you ask it someone may buy it at that price. Especially with that colour........I just love that blue.
But then I bought my car about eight months ago with 160k on it. And it is a manual with a sunroof, the tickford front end and a few other bits and peices for only $7,000.
Then put the fairmont spec dash with climate & cruise control and trip computer for only $100 + a A/C regass.
So far the car owes me about $8,000. Would like to find power windows now!
I would definately go that option again before buying a ghia. |
