Top Job - looking good
L300 is a mitsibishi Van .
Hot rodders use L300 front xmembers and HR front ends
on ther projects , best thing with a L300 front end is the endless amount of parts for them

Was aware of the L300 vans, just not that that's what was being talked about here, or how they fitted in. Cheers.

| Yeh, from what I gather, the L300 front end doesn't just bolt in but it isn't too hard for a reasonably talented fabricator to fit. Very similar in fitting a mustang 2 setup like they do in the states. I'm just curious about the track width etc. If you Google "Mustang IFS" you'll find some great stuff. It's amazing how big a falcon engine bay gets without spring towers or steering arms in the way and when you figure that a whole van is worth around $400 to $1000 second hand.......

| No real major problems, spoke to engineer at length, short of it is as long as it is as strong or stronger than standard is ok ,there will be a few things to redo no doubt.

| For those readers in Perth, I spent a long time talking to a guy that signs mods off when done. He reckons that it is better to be slightly more vague with your initial application to the DPI, it just gives him a bit more room to justify smaller (necessary) mods after the work is done. If you are too specific initially, you can paint yourself into a corner. By the way, I just looked up the specs on wheel track for the latest L300, it is 48mm wider than an XK. Can anyone think of a similar front end that runs 15 inch rims from the factory? They like you to use the same diameter and dish, there are variations though. Subframe connectors are OK too.

| Hey there Brownman, any more info on the old falkie? I'm still accumulating bits for mine. Just ordered a McDonald brothers triangulated four bar for the rear end. I noticed that you notched out the bottom of the rails a bit to fit the frontend up, do you think I will have problems in that area if I narrow the whole front end assembly by 48mm?

Hi guys,I,m still around.I havnt done much at all for 4 mths, moved car into the bigger shed today to get going again.
Whe.n the good weather is here ,I play golf, work on the can in colder mths
dirt-ute 6,I only notched the top lip a little, not the actual subframe.
As a matter of interest, why do you want to "NARROW" front rails, usually people want to make them wider. But in answer to you question, yes, there would be a lot of work, but can be done with a little bit of thought.
Other way to modify front is to make full length chassis.
No further pics as yet, getting ready to instal air ram to tilt front, and yes ,it will be completly removable, via a purpose built trolley

| I don't want to narrow the rails, just the L300 unit I'm putting in. There is a 48mm difference in the wheel track. The L300 is wider. I was starting to research which rack and pinion units have a suitable centre to centre ball joint or pivot points (dunno what they are really called) to stop the imminent bump steer problems that I would be building in, but now it seems a bit more practical to stay with the factory setup and shorten the actual drag link. Hmmmmm, need to sit on the fuel tin and scratch the head a bit more maybe.....[/quote]

Dwhy dont you int ute,the f/end fits in great, most definetly no need to narrow, the wheels actually dont look out of place the whole set up looks great.I also have centura diff and it to is a tad wider but looks great and fitted straight in.
Why dont you sit f/end in first and take a bit of time to study it,as for the r+p steering,I reversed the stubs and with a small couple of mods it will adapt to original steering
