| Geetings all,I didn't know they made panel vans with tail gates; I'm sure I saw one at the local wreckers. Was I dreaming or does it need a bit more water in it?Davo 46. |

I'm 99% sure ford did it too.
are you certain it was a panel van? theres heaps of canopy's that look like a factory van! |

| i am 100% sure ford made panel vans with tailgates as i have a mate that owns one (XF) I have also seen heaps on the road.. |

| I think I may have to go back to the wreckers and have a look, just to satisfy my own curiosity. I drove new panel vans from XW to XD but they all had doors. I reckon a tail gate model would be neat. Davo 46. |

| for sure ford made them it was an option i even had a xe with a 1 peice lift up like tail gate it was s**t it didnt go up high enough and when you were camping and going to bed p****d it would allmost rip your head off lol |

| I own a XC panel van with the tailgate. Genuine ford article too. It doesn't have a canopy either. |

All XW/Y vans had tailgates instead of barndoors,bar a few ex divi(?) vans,but they where converted outside the factory.So no factory barn door xw/y vans.
And as mentioned the tailgates were an option untill xf. |

| a guy at work has an XG van converted to the tailgate style back doors. Looks shmick as. Its also painted in blood orange |

 Falcon had the tail gate for the XR, XT, XW and XY vans but changed to barn doors for the XA. I don't ever recall seeing tail gates on the XA or XB but it was an option on the XC van and standard on the XC Sundower van. From memory the XD Sundower also had the tail gate while the rest of the range had the barn doors. |

g,day dav to the question about tail gates on fords yes they made a 1979 ford xd panel van it was the sundown instead of the sandman panelvan in the holden the reason i know the information i own a 1979 ford xd panelvan in a v8 351 5.8 litre ith a 100 gas tank and it is fire engine red with a gt shaker on the bonnet which i fittted later and i fitted 4 pippes to each side to the van like mad max with 19in mags and 16in on the front

Greetings 08, thanks for your reply. I checked out the local(Yarram) wreckers and found the shell of one just before it went into the' cruncher'; damned shame! It wasn't really well though!
Mine is an XG, 4.0,auto,air, cruise and 'spoke mags'; very mild but it suits me fine. I play the Double Bass,(giant vertical violin), and when the big machine is in the back, I can still snuggle up to it, on a single mattress.
I would love a 289 or a 302 but, as I approach 70, I figure I don't have to hurry any more. Maybe I could just make a recording to play in sync. with the gearbox and pretend.lol.
Take care and hopefully you will reach twice your current age, which is my age!
