Make sure you put a 560ohm resistor in the redpower line. Without this you will burn the LED's |
whats with the red and the green led i just want a simply little blue led to show when its on how would i do that and the 560ohm resistor how many watt ? |

| you will get away with a half watt resistor, thats whats used on the clusters. You can have a blue LED to show its on. Just take one of the LED's out of the circuit. |

Yup Yup!! Few hours with a soldering iron on sunday and $10 bucks later.
Makes for much fun, and pulls damn hard from first to second.
Thanks Neds.. your instructions are easy to follow and work better than I hoped. Good Work. |

for this model , it is a fairmont ghia if that makes a difference. |

the V8's have a seperate trans computer above the drivers left knee like EA's
the S5 wire to the TCM is on pin 7, and +12v on pin 29. |

Made my shift kit three weeks ago.
Makes a big difference from 1st to 2nd at full throttle. Bit harsh for every day use though.
But that is what the switch is for I built mine with the 22ohm and the 18ohm and can switch between them. I must say though, that there isn't really much difference between normal and the 22ohm setting.

Ok i went out to get the parts and the smallest 10w resistor i could find at Jaycar was 20 ohm and i need a 18 and 5.6 or did i read it wrong.
d**k smith only had 5w resistors.
Also to rig up the Leds it says to use a 560ohm resistor , but in what wattage ?? 1/2 1/4 1 5 or 10. |

Boys, boys, boys.
Any E-series V8 has a seperate transmisison controller - it was only the I6 that had transmission control intergrated with the ECU.
The trans control module is located under the dash, near your left leg.
Pin 7 on the TCM goes to the S5 solenoid. Pin 29 is the check line for the solenoid... 1ohm resistor for the solenoid, 20ohm for the check line...[/ |
To anuone who has done this to an el xr8, hopfully i dont sound too stupid but i thought i'd ask. just so i dont kill my trans
On an EL XR8 i use a 20ohm instead of a 18ohm, and a 1 ohm instead of a 5.6ohm. pin 7 is used instead of 71, and pin 29 is used instead of 81.
Cheers all |
