I started this thread last year. I have now renamed it and upadates will continue on. The original first post is below. Cheers BenJ Hi All If I source a diff from an EF, can I put it in my EB11? I know the brakes and handbrake setup are different and possible the mounting points for the control arms. What I was thinking was, can I use the control arms from the EB and the backing plate, discs and calipers from the EB. Anyone with experience or thoughts or comments? Unfortunately, changing centres is a job for the experts with specialist tools. I am happy to attempt most things myself, but just don't have equipment or space for that, or the dollars to pay for it to be done either. Which contol/trailing arms did you use? Will be picking it up on Saturday, and when I get some time I will trial fit backing plate and calipers from an EB on the diff. Has anyone got the EF handbrake to work with an EB car? As another option would be to retain the EF setup and mod the handbrake. Hmmmm Will update on my progress. What I do know is that the EA had a different yoke and tail shaft. EB11 onwards had a flat plate on the pinion and the same on the tail shaft. At best the nine inch already has this done. At worst use the tail shaft from the EA in the EF. I also recall reading somewhere that the control arms are different in the EA. Good luck. I think you will have more of a hard time simply because it is an EA and they changed from EB11 onwards. I have just bought , for our EB2, an EL xr6 3.45:1 diff complete [caliper to caliper] from a fellow forum member modded to suit his EB2. It's in transit from Vic. so I cant measure/view anything yet. Vince told me that everything EB2 had bolted straight on except a brake line had to be shortened, [probably the one from the chassis mount?] It's my understanding that the assy then mounted straight onto the EB2. His car was lowered but I'm not sure by how much or if he had to use EL arms, he never mentioned this as a necessity for me to do. Hope this helps a little. Looking closely at the EF diff, the backing plates should bolt right up, but the brackets that hold the brake lined in place are missing. I am hoping that once the right hand line (the long one) is located at the diff centre it should be firm enough. I guess I could always cable tie the brake line to the axle housing if I had too. I will post up some pics when I have it done. EBII brakes and axles will go straight onto the housing. I used the handbrake brakets with some oRings to hold the brake line. I get what you mean re the O rings and the EF handbrake brackets. Good idea. Not bad service 3 working days from Melb to Gosford. Once home I will photograph the diff and engine for future reference. Vince had it on his EB2 last Thursday so it's good for a known reference. I'll post pics of the detail work [calipers etc] on this thread Thurs afternoon. You probably won't need them but at least we know this setup works ok. I am going out now to clean up the backing plate and brake lines and hit them with a spot of paint so they are ready to fit up to the new diff.
