you should be able to run in the nines with out tubs.
The Just-A-4 MK1 did it in the early ninties untubed and running a boosted pinto with out nitrous. ran just over 130mph too.
the nine inch is way over kill. a full spooled hilux diff will run just fine, saving weight and power.

yeah i know u can run good times without tubs...there are rotor's running low 8's on 28x9's but why not, looks the part 2.
qucikest escort is a 9.74@138mph and thats untubbed on a pinto aswell
im hoping to run 130mph no gas, and then ill see how it goes with the gas, its got a fogger setup on it.
as or the 9inch, why not, if im doing everything else to it, might aswell, gonna cost money to do either diff, and ill know i'll never break it, and will hold the power once i put a cossie in it =]

you're underestimating the hilux diff, housings from the RN10 to RN25 hilux share the same width and spring plate location and are a drop in fit the cost of the fool spool and some axles will be far less then a nine inch and you still wont brake it.
to run 130mph you'll be looking for 500hp plus. If you need any advice just ask. My boss built the JUST A 4 car, (was his road car for years first) and held the record for fastest 4cyl in country when he was racing it. It ran 9.9s with the pinto and 9.7s when he swaped that for an FJ20.
the point is 13 years ago when everyone said it would never happen, he did it and he did it all himself, right up the point of making his own blow off valve from an old SU carby because to buy one back then was almost $900. featured in zoom and a few other mags aswell

i don't know if there are any videos of the car in action.
But from what my boss tells, you realy had to drive it. the swap the FJ came after the pinto block was found to be lacking in stiffness. with 35psi pumping in it used to flex the deck and let the head lift off the block, spilling coolent and oil on the track. Imagine coolent and oil getting under your rear tyres at 130MPH.
the car is in brissy somewhere getting tubed and resprayed in white, that was last we heard of it

| Anyone remember the Escort IMB05S. I think that had an SR20 and 4 speed manual in it. Still pulled 10's though.

There use to be a street regestered escort pannal van running a 250 6 with a turbo. Fully engineered he fitted it because he didn't know he couldn't then made his own rollcage took it to an approved engineer past rego first time.
He said you could only use all the power at the track due to traction problems and all built in his back yard it was some where near Brookvale if my memiory is right.( I know bad spelling)
