Has anybody thought about building one of these? - would be interesting to know some first hand results.

I'm too afraid the oil companies will send a hitman to my house if I use that.

There is always inefficiency in converting one form of energy to another. The energy expended by the vehicle's electrical system is greater than the hydrogen energy derived.

if u read the info they are not using bulk electricity to do the conversion (as in straight water would require) - they are using an electrolyte solution to minimise the amps.

My question was - has anyone got 1st hand experience with something like this?

Are you saying they create "electrolyte solution" at home and regularly put it into the car? If so i didn't notice them saying so on the website.

It kind of sounds like they run the fuel through the device then into the engine. The device releases hydrogen from the petrol to help lower fuel consumption? I need to read into it more.

I was wrong, It seems that you add hyrogen and oxygen from the electrolyser into the intake and the ecu leans out the injectors. The question is of course. with you burn out the pistons due to too low a fuel mixture? Or does it give you enough feul with the addition of the gas?

You need the adjustable LED circuit to adjust the mixture, this also displays the mixture on the LED readout. Interesting! If i saw the results in person and they were good, i would buy one, but until then... :'(

seems like this one is using 1- 3% KOH (potassium hydroxide) as the electrolyte but only for initial fill after that u just add water every time until it has to be cleaned out.

other setups use baking soda - 1 tsp per litre, some use caustic soda.

anyone know what KOH is sold as in australia?

Did anyone watch the videos on the guy who made his car run enirely on water, off a cell taking 1 amp?

My grandpa told me since i was 12 about him, how he was killed and his plans destroyed..
Same about the guy who invented a way to wirelessly transport electricity
*pop* *burn* problem solved, damn governments, how long do they honestly believe oil companies can last, they will destroy our earth and for what, they own like 80% of other free energy patents, plus they are so rich they could diverisfy immensely!
Our economy would change drastically, but so much for the better in every single way imaginable!

Shell and BP both now make solar panels.... you think they are getting the idea that they need to diversify their business away from fossil fuels. Mobil is in trouble and has moved to Bangkok to try and save costs.... (hide)

Since no one seems to have any first hand knowledge of this, i threw something together to do some tests. Have virtually copied the one from the "water4gas" site.
It is basically a nescafe jar with electrodes mounted through the lid. Electrodes are just stainless welding wire, doubled over and wound around a plastic core.
Used baking soda for electrolyte cos that's what i had handy.

Have installed it in my hilux ute for testing (it's carburettored)

Does produce gas.

Just have to do some miles now to get some real results.

Hey Garthr,
Just a quick suggestion with that setup on the hilux take it for a warm up run then see if you can lean out the mixture a bit on the carb. the downside of this (I think) is the it will be running a little lean at startup until you Hydro cell comes on line but it should make a difference while doing distance work.
Have fun

yeah foggy, i will keep it in mind as one of several things i might be able to do. for now i just want to see what difference is with same setup. then things like advance timing to take advantage of higher octane rating of the gas, also would like to put a valve in line to restrict gas flow at idle and open up at higher revs (the opposite of what is happening now) - all depends on how effective my cell is.

Has made some difference though, exhaust has gone really quiet which would indicate the burn is very smooth compared to straight petrol.

Just another couple of quick questions has it made any difference to the running temperature of the car and any idea how many amps this thing is pulling??

Good luck

Yea I've read a few articles on a guy called Stan Meyer from USA who ran cars off tap water, apparently it took huge electricity to extract hydrogen from water, and this guy nutted it out, and got it working, then was found dead in his home icon_sad.gif.

If it was an oil company keeping him quiet, then this place is fked.
