| The whole driveability issue comes from the pulling power down low in the rev range. Under boost a turbo 6 with low compression is a gutless piece of s**t whereas a V8 can still move pretty quick especially when it comes into its cam range. I suppose if your mother was to drive your car then you would want it to be just a bit more gutless than a stocker. |

No offence dude, but this is 2005 and the turbo lag days are long long gone... My turbo 6 retains standard motor, thus being standard comp ratio so it drives as a stocker would on 1/8th throttle... anymore at any rpm is a different story.
Dont get me wrong, I love V8s and have owned a few 351s when I was young, but with modern fast spooling turbos and awesome engine managment available today, why wouldnt you add a turbo to your 6?? |

Dont worry Martin! Countdown to boost in the Waggin has begun.
I think there was an option missing from this thread. Forced V8
Its a bit hard to compare Forced 6 against an NA 8 |

I see...... think that compression might have to come down a bit, eh?

Yeah i bit my tongue on that one, lol. I doubt my peak power would be even close to what chef/dan putting out but the power curve looks a bit like ayers rock, about 80% of total power avail below 3000rpm (boost on a centrifugal charger is linear.... power output from the engine is not). Driveability is so good it makes me sick!!! Some serious insurance issues with this option tho. |

I thought the same thing, dont get me wrong i love V8's but if it's a NA 8 or a forced 6 iwould take the forced 6 anyday.
4.9l EF futura: i'll take you for a spin, but why would you need it with a supercharged V8, i might dissapoint you. |

| I've driven a few stock and mild VL turbo's and the only thing that makes those things seem to go is the 3.45:1 rear end. Off the line my XF smashes them but when they hit boost its all over. |

Its a bit hard to compare Forced 6 against an NA 8 | The reason I didnt include forced 8 is because it wasnt an option for me (budget extends to engine swap or turbo but not bpth). And I get the impression xrdismantler thinks EMS is rubbish. Ive heard they do a reasonable job (any reason they are crap or you just brand biased?). |

Remember 5.0L Windsors are far more reliable than the 4.0L six, but dollar for dollar go for the turbo six.
A well setup turbo six will be far easier to drive than a modified NA 5.0L that is producing about the same amount of power and you won't have to put up with the shaking from rough idle caused by the camshaft profile required to produce that same amount of power.(I used to get sick of that while waiting at lights).
If dollars weren't such an issue, turbo a V8, start with a 220Kw engine and see how long your drive line doesn't last
5.0L has a 500hp block limit, that is 373kw@ the flywheel, but huge torque could be produced not far off idle due to engine capacity, this is where the V8 will shine over the six, if the V8 owner wants more, they either need to go aftermarket or pre roller block, where the six owner doesn't need to replace the block.
Stock 165Kw engine with turbo/s will still perform well, remember you are forcing air in, not relying on atmosphere pressure pushing it in, ports etc won't be as big an issue, performance will be gained from intake, GT40 heads etc but it will be still big power, more than most could totally control. I has been done here and overseas. |

| It would be interesting to see how far the 4L block will go. Whats the best power so far? Can we count the Nizpro 1000hp setup? |

Well, my plan is too see how much boost my stock 3.9 will take, the T4 I bought is good for 30psi all day... but I dont plan on a 30psi daily driver LOL, 15psi for the street. Ive heard of 400rwkw from a stock 4lt, that was with a T7 though.
its rpm and tuning that will end the motor, so if it stays under 5000 it will live longer |

That engine ultimately made 1223 hp and 1376Nm. |
