Boys, boys, boys.

Any E-series V8 has a seperate transmisison controller - it was only the I6 that had transmission control intergrated with the ECU.

The trans control module is located under the dash, near your left leg.

Pin 7 on the TCM goes to the S5 solenoid. Pin 29 is the check line for the solenoid... 1ohm resistor for the solenoid, 20ohm for the check line...[/

To anuone who has done this to an el xr8, hopfully i dont sound too stupid but i thought i'd ask. just so i dont kill my trans

On an EL XR8 i use a 20ohm instead of a 18ohm, and a 1 ohm instead of a 5.6ohm. pin 7 is used instead of 71, and pin 29 is used instead of 81.

Cheers all

what is 1ohm or 5.6ohm used for, I'm trying to figure out if the kit I have for a EF6 of AU6/8 is compatible with my EF8, I have a stage 2 shiftkit that has 18 ohms and 21 ohms, but I can't seem to find the 1 or 5.6 on any other wire combination, and there's only 3 wires coming out of the box.

also are the pin 7 and 29 you mention the pins on the TCM.

mines in finally, 2 stage, and it works a treat, very postive gear changes, and not for the faint hearted with a lead foot, if anyone needs the wire colours, pin orientation and resistors I used for EF V8 (the one with the TCM) let me know.

Mal,
Just a suggestion, read through the thread until you find someone with an EB2-ED that's done it. Click on the 'PM' button in that post and ask them directly.
Cheers,
Paul

The pin numbers used for the EB-ED shift kit seem to be hard to find in this long thread, so I'll post this up to make them easier to find:
The 18 ohm resistor wire goes to pin 57
The 5.6 ohm resistor wire goes to pin 38
You can use a 20ohm resistor instead of the 18ohm to achieve a less harsh but still quick, change.
Cheers,
Paul

Small correction there Sir

The second resistor, is not 5.6ohms (which is for EF six only) it is 1.0ohm for the others, six cylinder only. V8s and EAs with separate TCM are different again.

Well done Ben, 16 mins for the correction! I win the bet by 4 minutes, I knew you'd pick it up in under 20mins!
I did mean to type the one ohm but I was laughing so much I screwed up and just as I was going to try to edit it your post caught me out.
So now I'm laughing even more... you see there were two dudes fitting a BBM and...oh well wrong thread, another time perhaps?
Cheers,
Paul
