just wondering if the 20's on my AU will change my read out on the dyno and will it go up or down?

yeah im keen on seeing if a few variables like that affect the reading.

this might sound stupid but, what about removing the spare tyre and reducing weight for the dyno? If it gains accelaration on the street, then you would think it would work on the dyno?

Some one wanna clarify how it works?

imo your power @ wheels will go down slightly as your car is turning a larger wheel. will be down only by a few kw though.

more extreme way of telling is with 4wd's run 31's n u have lots of power, change to 37's n ur car suddenly cant pull them!

it shouldnt affect it much... some people reckon it does and people reckon it doesnt...
you would get more variation in power output by different weather conditions compared to the last time it was on the rollers..

removing spare tyre wont increase power output...
it may improve acceleration due to it being lighter, that would increase your power:weight ratio, not power output.. although the weight of the spare wheel compared to the whole car wont make much difference...

i had a mate in a BA XR6T who had 305rwkw with his 17s, people were telling him with his new 19s he would have less power, so he took it to his tuner and dynoed it with the 19s on there and it made 305rwkw again..
it could depend on the weight of the actual wheel if it heavier or lighter than the standard items.
imo i dont believe it will change it much, a few kw would be all...

remember that different abient temp and things like that can affect the power output on the day...

changing wheel size will be similar to changing your diff ratio.

i guess thats the same question as does your diff ratio affect the rwkw??
thats something im also curious about??????

no it will be a different dyno.

the 136kw run was done on a day with an air temp of 45 in the shed

the only effect changing wheels will have power wise would be a tiny drop if the wheels are effectivly harder to turn because they are heavier or something

if they are only bigger it wont affect your power output, same with different diff gears or the popular myth of running your car in a lower gear for more power

the power at the rears will always be the same


however tractive effort will change, this is the force in newtons that the wheels are putting onto the rollers.

imagine taking off in top gear, it would be slow as hell right, thats because tractive effort would be low, so when u have larger wheels or change anything that effects your lever arm or mechanical advantage will change the tractive effort

really wont mean anything unless your using the tractive effort to find your rwnm


so in summary power output will only be affected because your wheel may be heavier etc, if the wheels lighter it may actuall give u more power,

according to my physics teacher the torque curve will drop but the peak kw number should slightly increase

ill say something we already no.
the torque curve matters much then more then peak power in a drag race.
so even though the higher number will make you think you've got the bigger d**k the better torque curve will prove you've got the bigger balls

i personally would use the multi-directional wheels from a shopping trolley for the 'edge' in the dyno comp

it cant affect it they put info into the dyno wheel diameter and stuff otherwise eveyone would run 13' stockies cos they would get more kws

a true dyno allows for all these specs if you want a true reading you need it other wise the dyno read out is s**t and you pay for a lie
