Joe.You have alot to offer to the ford performance sector mate and whats better is your honesty and good manner.
The fact is that I had a great bunch of mechanical parts but the tune was blatantly wrong..I was banging my head against the wall from frustration of paying so much for tuning until our converstaion. The most expensive part was letting it be tuned. The golden words from you were to get an interceptor and do it myself. Within a fortnight I went in and bought a piggyback ecu and installed it myself as I am a car phone/audio installer. It took 25 minutes to do. The tuning however was a very different kettle of fish.It took a massive amount of care and patience before I started to feel the results. But they did come. Admittedly my car was piniging down the track on my second run so it needs more work.
The track was very hot ,the car was pinging.A flat 14.3 followed by a 14.317 was telling me stories I wanted to hear. 97 mph is telling me the car is around 155 to 165 real killowatts. My next mod will be to wait for some cooler weather and take it easy with the car until it runs. I dont know what my et will be in 9 degree temperatures as opposed to 25 degree and 40 track temps the other night. You would think it has to go a little faster dont you think? the only time faster is 14.3 or 14.299!! |

Of course try this. The other car is an xr6 au ute edited by a well known workshop with dyno sheet of 143 rwkws. Was a top bloke.
Fordfreak ..what sort of power do you think I am putting out with a 1720kg wagon using the et and mph? |

atleast 160-175rwkw.... with that launch + weight and top end track speed... and torque must be generous too... |

Thanks mate.Looks like I need about 10% more power to get into my goal..Hopefully 175 tp 192 rwkws... What et and mph should I be pulling with that power?

16 seconds? Theres something wrong there | possibly wheel spin... lack of practice?? or track launch knowledge?? perhaps a missed gear change?? soooo many variables......
and stav... those figures would be mighty impressive.. who knows!.. could still drop down to 14.1 -14.2?? |

I reckon a 14.2 is on the cards mate. With 195 rwkws it should pull a 14..flat.But you don't know until you do it...
It was a hot night.Other au xr6's with xorst were running 16.8's!!! The guys car had no wheel spin at all. I said to him that I did think he should get it checked.
I saw oth i6 's pulling high 16's..it was hot!!! |

I know.I was really surprised with my times... I pulled 3 14.3's 2 14.5's.14.5's were when it was like 28 degrees air. When I think of the other times that were happening I think the wagon has got some pretty good potential for the cooler months. I never dreamed of going in summer but the xr6 fellow threw down a challenge to me to race him and so I did.
If the wagon doesnt break I think its gonna be posted some ridiculous times in the near future. |
