Ok well I bought some blue LEDs and resistors and wired it all up.
Looks pretty decent although I havent had any time to play around since putting them in as Ive been away on course but when its finished next week I'll have go at getting them spot on...
One strange problem is the right most button of the clock. It doesnt light up even though it shares the same light source...it seems the light isnt bending through the clear plastic thgingy properly...ill have a bugger around with it later.
Its not quite bright enough for me, even when fully dark..the photos are taken with a medium exposure time hence it looks bright.
The light from the rev counter needle pisses me off, its not quite right, looks like a bloody radar screen! Need to buggerise with that too.
Im going to open up the head unit too, see if that display can be done too, I dont fancy my chances though.
Also want to do some of the aircon controls, but those vacuum lines behind it look bloody scary. Needs to be done though.
Ive got a few ideas that I havent seen done by anyone else yet that I will try that may solve all my problems..Ill keep you posted.

Looks good mate.
Dont stress about the air con.... it all unclips as one "loom" of vac hoses and will only come off/go on one way so you should be OK.
Just need to disconnect the cable going to heater box so you can remove aircon unit. Then dismantle and 'follow your nose'.
Great start, always gonna be plenty of stuffing around with this mod! |

| You said that the dash was not bright enough. How are you planning to fix. I am hoping to do this job to mine real soon. I am a real electonics amatuer so i hope it is not to hard. |

lol yea so its not just me...
im quite sure its the way the blue light bends around the clear plastic.
Im thinking I might have to add an extra LED in behind the 3rd button somehow as it looks s**t with it dimmed out when the other 2 are bright.
Dont want to say anything yet about how I plan to make the dash more visible at night yet as it might turn out to be s**t so Ill post back next weekend when I get time to try it.
EDIT: regarding the clock probem with the dot in the middle...I had that problem too.
What I did was to put 2 leds into the one bulb holder behind the clock and bend them to they point sideways and not directly at the rear of the clock screen. I also plan to do this with the trip computer screen. |

| That looks absolutely great! It'll look heaps good once you do the climate control box. I'm about to do the same thing with my dash but im going to try and make the needles red (and paint the surround silver like other people have!) |
