So guy's, after reading this novel i have one question to ask... i currently have in my hot little hand a Auto Enginuity Scantool connector and am wanting a program that i can use on my pda which might have a swanky display for the Premium ICC.
Idea's anyone....

Nope. I know nothing about it.

I would have said PCMScan, but that's not a PDA app, nor do I think, does it support your tool. I notice that Brian has a new utility called ScanXL which can be used with either an ELM327 or a J2534 device to do Ford Enhanced diagnostics.

I'll have to defer advice Re: your questiopn to someone else for this one.

Hi - I have been reading this interesting thread - I own a 1999 Ford Focus 1,6 L (Europe model) and I cant decide which of following pieces of hardware I should choose:

ELMSCAN 5 (wireless)

Good question icon_rolleyes.gif To diagnose the Focus, clear codes - fun in the garage....

After reading this thread I got a little exited about doing ECU Flash.... But I can see that the Mongoose is over my budget (read: My wife would kill me - the above options will only lead to a mild spanking icon_twisted.gif ) so possibility to flash will be an nice to have if included.
I think I read somewhere that it could be possible with the OBDKEY - however I am not technically capable of seeing if that is correct.

First I was only looking at the ELMSCAN 5 - but it seems that it will not support VAG - And I would like to have that option in future - and to get the most future-proof device.

Any of you guys who can help me decide......????
Appreciate your thoughts.

Hmm I'm liking the elmscan 5 wireless option along with the DashCommand software found at palmerperformance.com. that will hopefully give a nice little display on the ICC thru my carputer... customised of course

Hey Cool. I discovered the triggers for the KOEO and KOER running tests the other day.

If you have a BA Workshop Manual, I'm talking about the On Demand tests on page 303-14-67.

Of the 7, I have the complete tests for KOEO (02), KOER(82), the manual lists the OTM as number 84 - which makes sense given the Diag routines I discovered for the first two - but I haven't yet figured out how to set one of the four states (all on, all off, fans on, fans off).

I thought I had access to the Ignition Timing Test - but software issues have locked me out.

But I can't yet access the Throttle Test or Cylinder Contribution Test. I might have access to the LPG test but I have to hook up to an eGas car again to know for sure.

The 'Throttle Test' looks like an error. No other reference to it anywhere. I shall ignore.

Cylinder Contribution Test is actually called the 'Power Balance' test. I might see if can run that soon.

With the ScanXL tool, to get access to the Ford Enhanced data there's another component you need to licence.

But you're on the right track I reckon!

Some info on the PCM codes used in BA to FG (ne BG) Fords. You can find these ABU/ASU numbers written on the side of your PCM.

ABU is BlackOak ECU (MCP555 based, 1472k Flash)
ASU is Spanish Oak ECU (MCP565 based, 1024k Flash)
APS is ??? maybe a development of Spanish Oak, not sure yet. This is the FG (ne BG) PCM.

You certainly do. And you have ABS and Brakefail via CAN turned on, so obviously have a Bosch 8.0 Module. But interestingly you don't have DSC, just TCM. The bit that we suspect does shift-alert is 0 on yours. Awesome. So far it's mapping up.

However, even with that bit set, only certain 'versions' or 'part prefixes' seem to do the alert. I've tried a BAXR8 and a BFXR6T and those two don't do it.

It would be interesting to change the Shift Alert bit on yours to see if you can trigger it in sports-shift mode on your car.... (MSN me if you're keen to give it a try.)

I have a RTV and my PCM says its a ASU 153, but its a Petrol 4A??.One off topic is i noticed there are two types of exhausts for the utes and i have worked out i have the LPG type fitted.

Hmm. That's hard to integrate.

If you have a look at the PCM codes, anything that ends with a 3 is LPG, so it's consistent - even the FG PCM.

The LPG and XR6T PCM's actually have 3 connectors in use. The remaining I6 and V8 PCM's only use 2 x Connectors. It would be curious to see if your 3rd connector has pins or is blank.

But getting the PCM involves cutting a slot in the screws that hold it in, and can perhaps be a bit more effort than it's worth just to see pins.

I got a pcm cover so i got the factory screws removed.I have the 3 connectors which all are wired into, depends on which end off the row of connectors you are talking about? the connector closest to the front, is where the shift kit was wired into etc.,
My RTV had been slotted into a 01/06 build by the dealer for their stock when i walked in the door wanting to buy.So they changed the build etc., to suit me.It was going to be white but was done lighting strike for me. Wonder if thats how things get upset?
The diff lock is PCM operated etc., so may require more outputs???

Actually, you're right. I found the following Brolga (RTV) PCM codes for the BF:

ASU-113, ASU-133, ASU-153, ASU-173 - and these are listed as Petrol I6 NA. The others with this PCM code are listed as 'Alternate Fuel'.

BA Brolga's used the ABU-252 and ABU-245.

So that's curious eh? I didn't notice that before.

Yeah FPV's didn't get DSC (they said it was too expensive to do up new calibrations for 18" and 19" wheels with 4 and 6 pot brakes). FG FPV's will get DSC.

So what bit (command) do I need to run to tun the shift alert on. Will give it a try.

Datamine has confirmed that we have found the Shift Alert bit. It's the one we've been suspecting all along - bit 11.

However, we don't know where the actual RPM value that triggers the Alert is stored.

And it doesn't appear to work on anything other than an FPV cluster.

Having had it for a few days now. It seems the actual noise is coming from the ICC (like the various beeps from the trip computer, e.g. fuel low)

So maybe having the right ICC is required (all BF FPV's get the premium ICC) as well as enabling the cluster to send the 'trigger'.

Coming from the ICC? You mean the main speakers?

I don't think there's a speaker in the ICC at all. Just in the cluster, in the main body connected to the ICC, and in the Park Aid Module.

I take it you've been revving the bung hole out of your car since the other day just to hear the alert right?

Between the induction noise up front and the exhaust note out back, the little chime noise doesn't stand a chance. Plus with those two, I don't need any other excuses.

Literally, it's too quite for WOT acceleration.

As far as I can tell it's not coming from the speakers - impossible in my car, the ICC is complete disconnected stereo wise (full after market job thank you). The sound definitely sounds like it's coming from the ICC.

I'll keep listening for it, see if I can confirm.
