Hey guys as the title suggests what do you guys think if i were to supercharge (stage 2 with 250kws) my EB I6 5speed.....I was thinking of getting an IT'S stage 2 engine then chucking on the charger with pacies and a 3inch zorst......Has anyone else got this supercharger and what do you guys think of it im interested in turboing i love em but too much hassle and too much heat, if i had better car then bring on the turbo.......
Thanks guys |

hey dude supercharging is cool but a turbo offers more fun, a supercharger has a linear boost curve in other words it makes boost with rpm, wheras a turbo will make maximum boost at say 2300 rpm makes for more mid range torque and more sideways action, plus its frendler on the engine as a turbo doesnt take horspower to run it but in the end its your choice either way it will be fun |

turbo is better for the i6. also more customisability in terms of components.
with supercharger u have 3 options or something but turbo there are many. |

yes turbo has more potential...
but i am drawn to superchargers for some reason...
maybe its just the ease (specially with the powerdyne) of just bolt up and away you go... not as much mucking around...
on the issue of the powerdyne belts, i have read that u can import better belts, or buy them from somewhere, are much stronger than the supplied belt and less prone to snapping? |

| if your going supercaharger best you go a vortek, they are a better supercharger and will let you up the boost more than with the powerdine |

Powerdyne is easy and it all works but they are not for people wanting to be horsepower heroes
You will get a nice flat torque curve and plenty of power but they seem to fall in the 160-180rwkw peak output area only. Not bad for a road car but not a stinking hot turbo output by a long way.
Easy to fit easy to take off to get through a rego or inspection.
Has other advantages! |

Is that it for power output? I would have hoped for considerably more for a forced induction setup.. |

You need to run higher boost levels to get more power, generally you will see about 10kw per lb of boost. The Powerdyne kits are OK, and CAPA do use better belts compared with the original powerdyne ones, but you can only get a max of 9psi boost before you start having reliability issues. The Vortech blowers aren't much harder to install, the only difficult thing is taping an oil return line into the sump. |

As EDXR8 alluded to - CAPA rebuilds the powerdyne superchargers with stronger belts than they are issued with and i believe also fits a higher quality bearing to the input shaft.
The "old" belts and bearings gave way to powerdyne's poor reputation. As EDXR8 and jonbays have mentioned tho - they are limited in power output.
I6 i'd be looking at turbo but the supercharged 6s are no slouch. Much easier to do as well... takes most people months to get their turbos up running and sorted out. Supercharger can be done in a week, no sweat. |

A Warm 6 with a blower would surely get up and go, A turbo is also a great option too.
Installation wise its a great alternative too, just go bigger with the exhaust and fuel system and you should be nearly there. |

| Engines? Or SC kits? They wouldn't sell one last September, but they still have them on the website & in their mag ads. They apparently still don't know when/if they'll do a Vortech kit for SOHC I6's. Pretty poor IMHO... |

Sorry i searched for something and didn't look at the date, and contrary to some misplaced, misbegottten, misrepresented and miserable remarks i didn't mention the R word, actually they did.
I don't even think it was in my sig back then shows how intent these dudes are.
My bad sly. |
