Looking at buying new instrument cluster for my EF Fairmont as the EF one is no longer made the EL is. I know the gauges look different so i'm asking if any one knows if the wireing conectors are different or is it a straight swap thanks.

I'm pretty sure it will be a straight swap, no problems.

My EF one has a problem with the digital desplay one of the gauges flickers around auto elec said the problems in the instrament cluster and yes trade price from ford is about $500. Our motor traders rep recons he can do one for $400. And a all O reading dash will go nice with the new motor i'm getting soon.

Yeah, its definitely a straight swap, with no need to change a single thing !
If you are going to spend $$$ for a new cluster, see if you can score a chaser cluster... Someone told me they are the same price new, and they have all the same features as the fairmont models, with the addition of the speedo calibration mode.

The info on that page is incorrect. I have an EF exchaser with the original chaser cluster. It does have diagnostic mode as well as speedo calibration mode.

You can even ask a wrecker if they have a smashed cluster..
ef and el stock clusters have the top gauges too so you can get an EL stocker from a wrecker and swap the facia's over?
