| The Raptor ProStreet kit for AU will be approx $1000 cheaper than other SC kits in the market. |

| OK so now it's getting close, I'm just curious as to how much I have to take off the engine to fit the bracket etc. If the power steering pump bracket is involved I need to organise a helicoil as one of the bolts on the front of the engine is just hanging in there. |

Sly
Here it is, first change the injectors then ..................
The extremely good news is that the only parts you totally remove are the cold air intake, the airbox and the tubing from airbox to the hard plastic hosework.
Then you remove the 4 mounting bolts from the AC compressor, put those bolts to one side, pick up 4 supplied bolts (longer), slide these throught the Supercharger bracket, then install the spacers (one on each bolt) then slide bolts through the AC compressor, then lower the bracket, bolts and AC compressor back into normal position for the AC compressor, start the threads of all four bolts, then remove one bolt from thermostat housing. Then pull bracket hole into alignment with bolt hole in thermo housing and refit bolt, do not tighten yet. Then position bracket so that supercharger pulley is aligned with orginal belt line, lock bracket in position by tightening one of the 4 bolts then tighten the other 3. Then tighten the bolt at thermostat housing.
Congratulations, the supercharger and bracket are now attached to your engine.
Next task is to fit the drive belt, how hard is that hey ...........
Then fit suction pipe and filter to supercharger, then fit discharge pipework, then reroute engine breather hose ........... and blah blah blah.
Then fit the sparkplugs supplied, flash in the tune and you are racing.
Yes it is this easy .......... I kid you not |

| Good stuff Tim. That means I can do the helicoil and replace the leaking oil seal on my timing chain tensioner later as a job lot with fitting the custom-grind cam. Those bits need to come off to do the cam change anyway. |

Well this afternoon is was the Falcon's turn, Holden and Magna will wait for another day.
I refined the bracket, some time wasting issues arose and now the bracket has a modification to make it super simple to fit.
So far the kit is fitted as a complete setup, the tune and injectors is still to come but everything under the bonnet is more or less complete. Still need to connect the cooling fan for the charger ASAP.
The vehicle started immmediately as always and apart from the whistle nothing was different. Went for a quick spin to see what happens and have concluded the following:
1. Torque is MASSIVELY increased even within the very small amout of boost it will take.
2. As soon as intake sees around 2psi the ECU cuts the engine immediately, so if you ever hear of people boosting an AU on a stock ECU and saying its going well ......... I can tell you they are talking poo.
3. Vehicle drives to perfection, no pops f@rt or anything else until too much pressure is seen for the stock MAP sensor and engine power is cut to zero until pressure drops, engine continues again immediately no problem.
4. At 1600rpm with vehicle 3 mins after start up (more or less cold) in drive and the brakes on just enough to hold the vehicle the tyres will smoke with no apparent effort from engine, they just turn steadily. Then if throttle is increased to 15% or thereabouts engine rpm climbs to 2600 and auto shifts into second, tyres smoke insanely, engine holds 2600 rpm with no apparent effort, throttle is regulated to hold boost below engine cut. This does not happen stock, it takes full throttle to break the tyres loose and then its only steadily and 2nd gear is never considered.
5. With a tune this ute will likely hold 3rd gear in a straight line with no traction thats the indications for now.
6. The supercharger is running a high boost pulley, one which I do not sell to the public. This is what is bringing in the super torque early but may hold the engine back with too much intake heat (high boost) at the top end, anyhow time will tell. If we added an intercooler I think a high 12 would be on the cards. I can't believe how much stronger result the 4.0 INTECH is giving compared to the V6s I normally work with.
7. Tomorrow I will put up a vid of the first/second gear smoke show at 2600rpm and some photos.
Stay tuned
Raptor Superchargers - The power to blow your mind!
NB: EL - EF people I do not see the scenario being any different for your vehicle, it will soon be time to live your dreams if you don't have boost yet. |

I will post a couple of images here, one I could have posted long ago and didnt, forgot.
Enjoy, both kits are pre production, anything from here on in is for retail quality, ie all silicon bits the same colour, cut to proper length pipes all polished.
We are ready to give you the power anytime you are ready, but kits come with flash tuner. |

Also
The youtube vid, its nothing special but shows engine holding reasonable torque at 40kmh in 2nd gear .... very low rpm, and remember this is with no tune. Prior to adding the blower yesterday this little feat was impossible. Also you will note it almost sounds if vehicle selects first gear once i allow it to move off, this is not the case, its when I release the brakes fully the engine speed picks up quickly.

Not necessarily. Lachlan at Chiptorque seems to believe the AU2/3 PCM is boost-aware (where the AU 1 isn't). Makes some sense as these would have been development mules for the Barra 240 engine. There is a member here (and on AFF) who turbo'd an AU1 ex-taxi LPG wagon, whose only problem with running 6-8psi was blowing 2 engines up before he got a chip from Lachlan. Mind you the first engine was original IIRC, in a car with 880,000+ km up.
That's a good point too. You might need to confirm with your tuner if the AU2 tune will work on an AU1. I've heard suggestions that the AU1 PCM is quite different to the AU2/3 item, even though the manuals say the pinouts are the same. I know many of the sensors are physically different (although functionally equivalent) and have different wiring plugs, between the AU1 and later series. For example I believe the AU2/3 TMAP is interchangeable with the BA (incl XR6T) item, but the AU1 one isn't.
It's an important issue for me as my car is an AU1. I'm dead keen to go ahead but will need to be sure it'll all work on my car. OTOH it might be the excuse I need to upgrade to a BF... |

Seem to have hit a fairly solid snag on the tuning.
For the INTECH there is bugger all in the tuning software for the flashtuner, so essentially its not an option, might play with speed density a bit and see what that yields but not hopeful.
VCT engines are fine, the software has all the things we need, for INTECH nuthin!!
Will test a rising rate reg also and I will be in touch with CT tomorrow if possible and see if any options there |

Hmmm...
My old bus has just shocked me with the amount of oil it's used between the last 2 changes... 2 litres, up from 300ml or less. I'm thinking replacement or rebuild, and was toying with putting a 347 stroker in instead. Sounds like a VCT donk might be the go then... |

Ditch it for something better would be a plan hey, something that doesn't like a slurp or three of oil |

| Unfortunately I think you are looking at piggie backs or aftermarket computers if using the flash tuner is not possible. |
