You don't use a lappy for car work?
I've found between the OBD cable, the serial cable from the ELM unit, and the 6" USB-Serial convertor cable, I've got a pile of cable strewn across the floor and passenger seat. |

Well, I use Vista 64 on the work notebook - worst frekking decision I've ever made. I'm right on the verge of rolling back to XP - Vista is that terrible. I have lost a huge amount of productivity because of Vista.
Biggest issue with V64 is that it REQUIRES signed drivers, and many vendors just won't pay for developing signed drivers. The Drewtech guys won't write a V64 driver for the Mongoose despite my repeated requests - that's the tool I use for USB. My current ELM327 is a serial unit and I'm contemplating changing to USb myself.
So I've got a PC in the shed setup permanently for stuff like this - and i can get to it via VPN from work so I can do tests even when I'm not at home. Since I have a lab setup with most of the modules in a BA connected via a Dash Harness and a Lab Power Supply, its worked out better in the long run.

You can turn off driver signing on Vista x64 easy.
F8 and disable driver signing at each boot. OR
Open an admin command prompt, enter..
bcdedit /set testsigning on
reboot.
I have to use that myself. |

Digital Speedo on the Right LCD on the cluster.
Search would have been your friend though.

Ive got a 1.0a elm327, does the job but the faster speed would be beneficial. One thing you forgot Luke is that I can now turn on and off Autolights warning alarm. Once again this requires eeprom programming.
While talking about eeprom reprogramming, I can do a complete re program of odo etc now in no longer than 20mins.
I dont require the odo to be set through the cluster anymore, I use a 'SPECIAL' EEPROM Program that I have designed to handle all those functions. Still some issues once I get past the 600000km range on how the odo is calced, but will get it sorted one day. |

We fixed phatba's TCM light problem today and enabled Police Mode while we were there. Lucky bugger already had Shift Alert enabled and didn't know it!
Only thing left is problems with dte. He says itcame out of a GT, but if it was from a ute then there will be issues with the expected fuel tank size. This may be a job for (drumroll) auMatts new cluster utility.....assuming he's sorted out multi-line messages....
Now we just need to see if we can get jlgw70's cluster fixed too.
