This sounds like a nice motor, what are the pistons/rods worth and how much porting did the head see?

Pistons are forged ones to suit BA XR6 Turbo, rods are BA XR6 Turbo ones which will bolt straigfht up to the pistons. Cost approx $2,200 for pistons and rods.

Not sure about JETXR my aim wasn;t to beat him i just wanted to ensuer if i'm spending $5-6k more on the motor i came out with more power than i started with. Hard to tell mates and my wife i spent $5k and got the same (but more reliable) result that i already had...

Not really a quarter mile man...... i did a best of 13.05 on 5 cyc when i blew a piston during on first run.

Yes traction is a problem, i was running street tyres.

in the long term not sure how the diff would hold up given the 1100+nm of torque and 309rwkw going to the rear wheels through a standard diff...

I have driveline Q's too.

9"?
BA MKII GT T56?
TKO?
Time for C4?

Also,

Wolf 3D still capable?

Custom plenum, pod and 3" piping everywhere sounds great. It will be a killer looking and performing engine. Going to give Horsepower Heroes a shot?

T5 is only good for about 180 - 200rwkw. Mine is a Z spec gearbox built by Mal Wood in QLD. Uses the same external casing as a T5 but different components and has handeled my 309rwkw well so far.

Standard diff

Wolf 3D is going fine. The guy who is performing most of my work has 3 or 4 cars producing over 400rwkw with one so shouldn't be any trouble.

Apparently torque multiply's through the drive train the same way kw or hp are reduced (even in 4th when its straight through)
So 400fwkw may be 300rwkw and 800fly wheel nm may equate to 1000 nm at the wheels. All dyno figures are at the wheels (unless convertered) where as manufacturors figures are at the fly e.g.

BA GT might be 290kw and 550nm = 220rwkw and 650nm at the wheels

EL Turbo 400kw and 900nm = 309rwkw and 1100nm at the wheels

These are only estimate figures but you get the idea

Yes Flywheel and clutch also from Mal Wood

Lightened flywheel made a big difference too

Rev's up a fair bit faster, with a small reduction intorque (not too much of a problem for me)

i think it would make a huge difference on a N/A car too, especially a V8 with plenty of torque.

Pistons are OK not great, I lost compression on 4 and 6.

Did they do your cam and headwork as well?

Im putting in a newer engine this weekend and am going to try and get somethig else put in for more power before the next drag day. Just not sure who to go to yet.

Cool, thanks for the number, Ill give them a call once my engine is in.

What did your car make with the stage 2 cam? Did it need valve springs to be changed?

How many stages has your motor been through?

How long do you think until its back on the road?

Yeah torque is a tricky one to calculate "at the wheels". But if you'd like to have a crack at the engine figures, there's a formulae....

torque (ft-lbs) = (hp x 5252)/rpm

and

1nM = 0.724ft-lb

800hp @ 6,000rpm = 700ft-lb = 506nM
700hp @ 4,000rpm = 919ft-lb = 665nM
600hp @ 3000rpm = 1050ft-lb = 760nM

To calculate at wheels, you will need to calculate the RPM the wheels are spinning at, pretty easy if you know the circumference. Then use the hp @ wheels figure with the wheel's RPM in the above formula.

Stage 2 made 279rwkw i think, but the restricting factor was the exhaust at that point so i think it would have made a little more perhaps 295rwkw with it in.

Yes valve springs needed to be changed.

I had 3 stages, this current one willl be my forth and i think it will be back on the road in 2 weeks, hopefully.

Thats is awesome power!! Maybe I should do that before I get my retune done!

Any idea what they charged you for the cam and headwork or was it all on the one bill?

There was a breakdown buti cannot remember.

I would just give Brian a buzz let him know what your working towards and he should be able to let you know roughly how much and expected results. If it's more than you want to spend just let him know, he is quite helpful.
