Heard a new one last night,

the vic Po are placing two cars about 300m apart on a straight road. the first car tracks you for speeding and takes a picture of your number plate, it is then sent and processed and instantly sent back to the second car.

if your car returns a positive anything, eg stolen, unpaid fines / rego, etc the second car goes and pulls you over.

just thought it was an interesting thing to mention

WA police cars have the technology on board to check instantly for all of this, and it happens automatically while they are driving down the road.

NSW has it too, probably most states now, the camera on-board has number plate recognition, it has probably made its money back already for unregistered car fines etc.

WA would need it, you can register a car over there in someone else's name without rego papers, mate registered the EL I sold to him in my name because the dumb asses wouldn't register it his name because he didn't have a receipt etc (no provisions for stat dec like NSW), the car was unregister from NSW icon_eek.gif He didn't even get my details right and they allowed it icon_lol.gif
I wouldn't sell an unregistered car over there, likely I would end up with cops on my door asking about the car that was registered in my name doing a bank robbery, at least if it was registered, that is if it was similar to NSW, I could send the change of ownership paper into the roads department.

Vic has it too... I think fiftyone is on crack.
Generally they do the two cop cars thing just for speeding, one car hitting them with the radar, radioing ahead to the second car to wave them in.
Usually a couple of cops in the second car so they can revenue rai... I mean increase road safety, more efficiently by doing a couple of cars at once.

Well in some ways it is for a safety, an unregistered car most likely hasn't been safety inspected for at least over 1 year, poor brakes, faulty suspension, bald tyres just to name a few things car owners neglect until rego inspection is due, so they never get fixed if they aren't registered in the first place, whoops what am I saying, that is how it is in nearly every other state anyway with registered cars icon_lol.gif

why two cars? more emissions from two cars than 1, the other car can be somewhere else patrolling, is it really necessary to have two cars on the same strip?

there is also a camera based one with the booze busses to save the cops time,

in the patrol cars the info needs to be entered manually still as far as i am aware

Talk about revenue raising all you want, but what if these speeders aren't pulled up now? Who knows, maybe 10 minutes down the road they are still speeding, kid comes out of nowhere and knocked down!!! Then everyone would be like, where are the police now??? These guys are just doing their job.

These days the police seem to be F'd with they do and F'd if they don't.

Imagine a loaded up truck wallowing down the road and compare that with even the sloppiest LTD, let alone some race replica M/C. Which vehicle is going to have the better chance of avoiding Gyzmo's suicidal children?
Yet the same draconian laws apply to all vehicles. The laws are as moronic as the people who enforce them since they cannot be trusted by their elders.
When you think about it this is going against the natural selection principle. Why is that? Well somebody has to do it!

And maybe while 6 police officers are booking people doing 65 in 60 zones a women gets raped half an hour away?
Hypotheticals are fun.

I agree with both here, sometimes it is over the top with bookings but many times we have been shown the different in distance 5km over the speed limit is, yeah I would be p****d at the time, but it is the rules and if it saves "just" one child I would think it is worth it, people with their own children they care about would agree with this.

[quote="Commando"]When you think about it this is going against the natural selection principle. Why is that? Well somebody has to do it![quote]

Natural selection is nearly gone in this current time in non third world countries, medicines, surgery and people hook up for love, not who is stronger, higher intelligence, without medical conditions, taller and has the right features to make better children.

Running over children is not natural section, cars aren't natural, the only way some natural section is going to come back is to drop all types of medicines and surgery, so this mainly happens in third world countries.
