Anyone out there know if the 1971 Cortina (Aus version) is the same/similar to the English 1971 Cortina? I'm curious as to whether the parts are interchangeable...

I'm also wondering how easy it would be to fix a Telstra engine in a Cortina.

(Not sure if this post belongs here)

Mk3 I take it.

I've a English Import Mk2 and there are subtle differences between origin, however all parts I have encountered are interchangeable.

Yet, the English built ones seem to have 'extras' small things like sound proofing, dampeners sheet metal folded not to get water caught and red oxide! etc. far better quality control.

Mk3, however I wouldn't beg to differ.

And a Telstar engine? hell, If its a 4cyl I'd be looking at a SR/FJ20, Fiat 1600, Mazda ohc way before a telstar.

you'll find many differences between local and imported old small fords.

but for the most part major parts will interchange.

as for the engine, why would you want to put a telstar engine it it?
it would be less work and end up with more power to fit a FORD zetec engine.
it will bolt up to the gear box you already have

Slick, no 2L Twink's in the Escorts, the RS1600/Twin Cam got a 1598cc BDA and the RS1800 got a 1798cc BDA, the only Twin Cam 2L based on the Pinto that was factory produced is the Cossie 2L (Pinto bottom end, Alloy Cosworth head)
