Mate, dont ya mean 1980 RS2000 (i know they made a 1970 RS2000 but the are rare as hens teeth) and 1979 Escort Ghia, the Ghia never came out in the mk1. btw i have not owned but been in the possesion of:

1969 Mk2 Cortina 1600
1971 Mk1 Escort 1100
1980 RS2000

i had thease around 6 or so years age and i dont really take notes on the dates but the rs 2000 was 1970 as it was bought through a wrecker as a defected vehicle.

I thought it was a bit strange date, first Mk1 RS2000 was not released until 73, but there was nothing stopping someone building a replica out of a 1970.

lol my frist car was a 1965 MK 1 Cortina, little beast it was i did a full custom interior in it in blue and white vinyhl and it had a 2.0 pinto in it and 5 months of driving and the little motor died so i chucked that and went to the wreckers and seen a v8 in like a 1970 rover.. lol so a week later i was hooning around with a All Alloy 3.5 litre v8. It wen ok but not that greak, should have stuch a 302 windsor in it.

And now i have a 1987 tx3 turbo laser, in the process of fixing it up ready for rego.

I had a mate who had a 84 Telstar Ghia.... damn it went hard for a "mums car".... or seemed to at the time.

In any case, the Ghia was a nice change to the Laser L's, Geminis, and Charades that most P platers when we were at school had!

Here's my short list icon_smile.gif

1. 1969 (i think) Purple Escort Panel Van. My first car, did great smoke shows in reverse icon_lol.gif lasted 6 months before I rolled it on a dirt road in Nulkaba (near cessnock)
2. 1969 1600 GT Capri - I loved this car, very quick for a 4cyl. Unfortunately it tried to climb a telegraph pole at 60Kph and came off second best icon_cry.gif .
3. Little red Corolla, Can't remember what year icon_confused.gif Died of Cancer.
4. 1982 KA Laser. This was my wife's car. I surprised her one day when I took it for a drive and came back with an 82 351 XD wagon. "What???" I said, I seen it in a car yard and the dealer made me an offer I couldn't refuse, Laser + $500 icon_biggrin.gif
5. Datsun 120Y - Bought it for a little work car. Bought this car off Dad's mate who had had it since new and still looked like new when I bought it. Unfortunatley, my other car was a 1979 351 LTD and I drove the little datto the same way. I eventually blew the motor (6 weeks after buying it) icon_lol.gif Haven't owned another 4 since.

I have driven a heap of them, I think xcabbi's was just a freak as they didn't go any harder than most other similar 4s.

1984 Mazda 323 5 speed with twin webbers.

best first car ever, so much more that the webbers brought, cornering was great as I was pretty heavy, only problem was the CV's snapping with front wheel stand stills.

I paid 250 from an auction, liscenced the car, immobiliser and tried to kill it, then sold it a year later for $1200. 3 weeks later it hit a light pole in the wet and was written off.

I've own a 1970-71 Ford Zodiac Mk IV back in NZ. hand me down I bought from the old man for $100. my first ever car at 17. wasn't to bad for a 2ltr V4.

1980 TE corty started of as a 2ltr then later a 4.1 cross flow then finally engineered for a 302, but ended up with a 351c. LOL, those were the day's.

Never owned a Ford 4 .....

Had a Mitsi Colt GSR, typical mitsi, burnt more oil than petrol
Also had a Sigma, was much the same really!
Oh and a *cough* Volvo 244, it was the heaviest, thirstiest car I have ever owned but it had done 450,000 and still drove like new....

1980 Escort Panno, originally had a 1.3 in (why i don't know - originally a 1600) Resprayed it, lowered it, fitted 2litro pinto, extractors etc. Ghia seats etc. Sierra 5 speed conversion

1980 escort 2 door 1600. Left body stock after previous cars flash paint job getting wrecked by car parks / trolleys / useless drivers etc. Fitted a 711m block 1600 bored 120thou , webbers, cam, valvesprings valves etc. 4.11 diff Kmac 27mm front bar, 2" lowered progressive springs, adjustable camber castor kit, RS200 dash, wheel etc. Awesome little car for just a "1600" icon_wink.gif Handled like a go-cart.

1978 Esky 2ltr 2dr Auto. Started on this one but lost interest thanks to kids so I ended up selling it before I got too serious into the build.

Had a KE TX3 turbo for a while too. Not as raw or as much fun as Esky's but still went well and easy to drive in traffic etc..
