My driver's seat doesn't lift evenly when you crank the dial anymore. The right front part of the seat comes up but the left front part stays down.
Can upholsterers repair mechanical problems or do they just do the coverings and seat stuffing?
Who else can? |

I have the same problem....
you just need a welder to weld the bolts back onto the fram on the bottom of the seat... best bet is just pull out the whole seat, remove the base and have a good look.
You can attempt alot of easy fixes, but like me you will be easy fixing every couple of weeks or so... |

| ours shakes when we lift it...but itz not moving up unevenly...so thats a bonus i guess |

from memory speaking to wreckers, it is something like that - he said it was a common issue in the EF's, as i was looking to sell him my interior, and that was his only question - if the drivers seat was stuffed. interior trimmers etc might be able to offer you a solution? |

| Yep, I'm trying to find out who does repair them. I figured mechanics would do it and have the welding gear. |

| I pulled the seat out and disassembled it at a friends place and found that the seat pan had three of the welded nut's bent out of shape with one broken all the way through. Spent a bit of time rebuilding the metal around the nut and then welding the areas up with some more meat around the nuts for support. I gotta say that the seat pan is made from some thin a*** metal. I guess if they hadn't tried to keep the weight down in the car, the seat pan might have been a lot sturdier. |
