For anyone still living in the dark ages running XP, you can now download SP3:

That is still the release candidate, The final release I dont believe will be out until tomorrow.

I have slipstreamed that one into a xp cd, and attempted to install it in a VM, and found that the bug where it wont accept any key, and wont accept no key exists, as did in som release candidates.

Only thing Vista has over XP is DX10. Everything else is slower and more resource hungry.

I heard the new new version of windows is out next year and that Vista was just a stepping stone.

I had no problem slipstreaming the SP3 release candidate using my copy.. Probably doing something wrong, it isn't the easiest thing to do.

Can get patches so DX10 will work on XP.. It'll still be there for a while lol.

Granted i haven't used WinXP x64 in a long time but i don't imagine it's anywhere near as nice to use as Vista x64?

It slipstreamed fine, it just didnt exhibit any of the sp3 features, namely the no key feature, and wouldnt accept any valid one...

Meh will this work with so called "unvalidated" xp installs?

I am running 3 xp computers 2 validated and 1 not (reformatted and cant find original cd key)

It really s**t me that as a customer who has every legitimate version of windows since 3.1 (Cept vista!) that i don't have access to updates.
