18 page thread, so i guess we woulda heard about it if there was.....

I was afraid this would happen......promises of "yeah we can do that, no worries"...famous last words!!!!! Glad it's you paying for it all at the end Fordman....i'm sure it will be worth it.

Makes you wonder with all the technology available, why the aftermarket hasn't offered a twin-cam conversion for the previous models I6....Money thats why!!!! I know why Dansedgli gave up...it is a lot to deal with.....IMHO, would be easier to make a BA-BF to look like an EF-EL, though you would be lucky to find a panel beater with that much passion for their craft.

Cheers

I'm actually interested in one of the 3.8 v6's the falcon would have in future.. they will become cheapish to buy at some stage and are a modern high tech motor..

I would love one in an e series with an Eaton supercharger or twin turbos on it...

Now, we're talking................but i suspect to much technology to make an engine swap a viable option..........i subscribe to the K.I.S.S. formula.

There was an aftermarket twin cam head for the early SOHC motors. Krogdahl made it and it was around $5k to buy and it gave an extra 20kw from memory.

I dont think they sold that many icon_razz.gif

Mine was off the road for over a year. 7 months of that was sitting in a workshop. I got sick of it going nowhere and didnt like the fact that when the car was finished it was still an EA with lots of work to do to bring it up to scratch.

I remember complaining when rank rotary took 3 months to do a turbo conversion on my EB back before I started working on my own cars. In hindsight they did a s**t more work than what happened with my twin cam EA.

K.I.S.S formula ftw. 300rwkw is easily attainable with the SOHC motor and you dont even have to pull it out.

well I was thinking that the 3.8 litre is probably much more efficient, especially when combined with better breathing/extractors etc... so less fuel, more power with less strain for the engine etc etc.

People are putting LS400 motors in damn near everything nowdays, why not a 3.8lt ford quad cam?

400rwkw is easily attainable with the F6 DOHC motor and you dont even have to change internals :p

Nope, still not going. I pretty much have just given up calling up. I've just forgotten about it, when they call me, it'll be done....maybe, or it will be a call to say "come get your car, we can't do it" icon_rolleyes.gif

I know of a couple of car audio places that have kept cars for over a year for a big custom job.... not originally planned, but it ends up getting put aside for other stuff a lot.

Yeah but you have to buy a F6 to make it meet the KISS requirements. icon_biggrin.gif

Frittz is up near 400rwkw now with his SOHC motor. It nearly makes me want to try it again. Nearly. Buying a 1 litre sportsbike will be more worthwhile imo. Then I can ride it to work!!

Hopefully the conversion doesnt take these blokes too much longer. Being so far away must be a PITA. Are there any other workshops you can turn to if it goes bad?

Might be an idea to call them up have a really good chat about what their plans are for it etc. If in two months they havn't even been able to report any progress to you there's something wrong.

Do you mean the old 3.8 Mushtang etc V6 or the new Duratec 3.7 litre jobbie (as in the Mazda CX9)? The 3.8 has been around a long time and should be cheap now... comes in a blown version with an Eaton M90 too.
