Yes, or they wouldn't give you the controls to do so.

(of course, you need to maintain your car suitably, neglect will kill it)

I think I killed the overrun clutch by holding it in 1st too much...

so now there is no engine braking

I havent driven my new box in manual mode at all even though it is run in. My last box ..when I tried to change gears flared up in the revs like it was slipping and then changed gears.Is this a problem for you guys? I will try some manual driving today but I am not holding my breath. I hope it does change cleanly into next gear then it may even go faster

Turn your S5 solenoid in 1/2 to 1 turn and most if not all of the flaring will dissappear.
