To be honest I will take orders from anyone right now
First delivery's will be in 18 days time. I always run out 2 or 3 kits for a lower than normal retail price. One of those is taken already, 2 to go. |

Mid next week if you like, will have all the tuning done by then hopefully and that pretty much covers it all. |

The manifold butterfly is supposed to open at 3800rpm on stock engines, have they tweaked up the opening point? Interesting that it reduces power though. I was expecting that opening the butterfly at relatively low boost, say 1-2psi, would have produced the best overall power curve. But then on the FG the manifold valve switches at 3750 then switches back over 5000 to give the same power at 5000 and 6000. The BA/F XR6T has no butterflies, both tracts are open all the time. Maybe the long runners give some sort of plenum effect due to the increased volume over the short runners?
I'll have to experiment a bit further on mine. My fiddling so far suggests the butterflies should open at around 3200 on my LPG setup as it is now... it struggles a bit from 3200 to 4000. It wasn't really obvious until I put the pod on, but it now makes an unpleasant resonating noise when the airflow is less than optimal.
| Raptorsc wrote: | | We overlaid the runs over the top of our Supercharged intercooled Commodore chart and have found the Falcon is significantly stronger right from the first measuring point, there is a 20mm gap between the lines. Essentially this tells me the thing is going to certainly go very well. |
I suspect it has to do with the bore/stroke relationships of the 2 engines. IIRC the V6 (3.8 partticularly) has a big bore and short stroke... so probably has a fairly big valve and good cylinder filling in NA trim. OTOH the long-stroke I6 may get a bigger benefit from the same boost level, perhaps a bigger improvement in cylinder filling as the air gets squirted in?
Anyway I'm thinking too much. Results count and I'm looking forward to some impressive results once I get my hands on one... |

Ute has been delivered back to the tuner, hopefully they complete it tomorrow sometime and then we can be done.
I have double checked everything on my side of the scheme and blower is running like a charm, so no excuses for the thing to not make reasonably good power. |

|
|
The ute is back already
The tune is now 95% complete, still a touch up needed for top end timing and for the automatic shift characteristics.
Great being able to use the full factory 5700rpm rev range again and we did no cheating, we made the power within the stock rpm limit, we could have raised the limit and made more hp/boost.
The boost is 7.7 - 8.0psi as it stands right now and this made a full 95hp or approx 12hp per psi, this also means that 10psi may yield around 120hp over stock or a total figure of 286 rwhp:D .
All the power is made on top of the original exhaust upgrade figures, if you added those gains in then the whole exercise from start to finish shows a total gain of 122hp at just under 8.0psi.
All in all its quite decent and is exact same result as we got for the VCT, however the Intech in this case had a much better exhaust system but same extractors.
Tune touch up is Monday night and in the meantime a bit of sniffing around the SC inlet with a manometer to see what restrictions there are.
So there it is the AU Raptor ProStreet (Stage 1) ready to roll, will add 90 - 100rwhp to you car for 3hrs work.
For the moment all who order will get the fancy hand held flash tuner as part of their kit, this is only temporary due to some odd pricing arrangement ....... so make the most of it as we are attempting to get the ordinary boxes for a better price which will make them the generic tune carrying device.
Also did 2 runs on a 400m uphill grade section that I have used for years now to get a rough handle on the performance of a vehicle. With 3/4 tank of fuel, spare in and cabin full of shop supplies and auto not quite right the ute showed a 13.9 potential which is a great start, with some adjustments to the auto (next week) this will improve some. Woud like to try this with a manual
Stage 2 with more boost and matching tune will be coming very soon
For those with dev kits, camshaft mods, ported heads etc, add about 120hp on top of what you have now as a rough guide for your total power gain. Just make sure you have the free flowing exhaust/cat/extractors.
The configuration of the ute on this day when dyno'd at 261rwhp is as follows
Fuel pump stock original Ford item
36lb injectors BOSCH
4 Bar Fuel rail pressure (XR6T) regulator
Fuel SHELL V POWER
Boost pressure 7.7-8 psi
Engine lube is valvoline synthetic
Auto trans has Amsoil synthetic
Diff has Amsoil synthetic
Spark plugs Motorcraft Iridium - .9 gap
Spark leads - Stock Motorcraft
Pacemaker Competition extractors, 3" cat and 3" exhaust with 2 muffs
Raptor V with 61mm pulley and 3" intake pipe
AFR at end of run ... 12.7, a bit lower number may make more power
133 000km on car/engine/drivetrain all 100% STOCK INTERNALLY

That would almost be bang on 250 rwkw for me, which is a great result!
Make sure you post up the before and after dynos etc when she's all done ...and chuck up some idling / in car / drive-by vids! |

What are the torque differences so far?
Any idea of the psi rise / 1000 rpm? |

Mark
I will come up with some new charts for you on Monday, the tuners had an occasion to attend this afternoon hence I had to rush off with just the one chart.
Have been testing a couple of things over the last hour and I feel we should be able to make the 200rwkw just as it is. A couple of things needed adjustment and will make a difference |

Here are two new charts, one is metric one is imperial, take your pick.
What you are seeing is the tune which the kit will go out with - the 193rwkw and the hotter tune 201rwkw which will require octane booster for safe operation, good for dyno days or drag. The 2nd tune is optional at time of purchase.
We didn't sort the auto to my satisfaction yet, another attempt will be made this next week, its only under full power that I would like it to shift more decisively/firmly, otherwise it drives perfect.
Showing around 1000lbs of tractive force and very constant torque for most the rev range (flat torque curve is best for all driving conditions), hence on kick down it really lays the power down
Enjoy |
