Hi guys,
Just need some help/advice on what cam and roller rocker combo you's would recommend for my car if I was looking at mild cam which will produce a good amount of torque.
Im just going to do the cam and rockers and get the thing re-tuned for now.
I drive the car to work and back everyday but I also want to use it for track days aswell.

Cheers.

With an AU3 XR8 you already have 1.72 roller rockers.

Its just a cam you'd be after I reckon.
I'm not up on cams someone else should be able recommend some part numbers.

Mate i'd love to see another car with a Crane 2040 (E-303) and 1.7rockers. The torque that combo puts out is unreal. Mid-range is extremely strong and maintains a great top-end, i think it would work well on the track.

ive been looking at the crane cams and they seem to be the go.
I will be most likely going for the 2040 and a set of lifters.

With what Timmeh was saying about the rockers..is it nessassary for me to get a new set to suit?
and should i get a new set of valve springs, retainers and valve locks?

Just get a new set of valve springs, retainers and valve locks.
When the heads are off get them serviced and the new springs etc fitted and then the cam fitted.
Will be tough as nails. Don't spend money where you don't need to unless your really going to go all out on the engine.

I went through Summit to get my top end kit.

They are extremely helpful and I found them to be excellent as far as shipping. They give you a couple of options as far as carriers and whether you want it shipped to your door or you pick it up from a depot.

Give them a buzz once you know exactly what you're after and they'll take you through everything. You'll be able to track it as well once its posted.

I have basically a brand new Ford Motorsport E303 if you want. Only did about 1500klm's and then decided to go larger.

$200 plus postage.

mate IMHO you can do a lot better than an alphabet cam ...try the new Comp or Crane quick ramping cams designed specifically for EFI cars or better still get a custom cam taylor made for your set up

just make sure you get good springs and retainers , locks etc as they get a real hiding

Yes some say that.. They are still good cams though.. With good springs 1:72 rockers . They have quick enough ramps... There is no way you could use std springs with this combo !! Its not the efi that allows quick ramps.. Its the roller cam with its narrow contact which prevent lobe scuffing...

I highly reccomend Summit. Have bought most of my parts from them for at least the last 3 years.
And there prices are awesome even if you include shipping

i got a good result from Comp Cams XE270HR cam. jump on their website for specs

- 202 Rwkw

that was with ported GT40X heads, and ported upper manifold, 2.5" twin exhaust, and a flasher tune. my car is an auto.

it runs nice, and idles fine. a littel lumpy (which is want i wanted!!), and cold start is spot on, albiet a little more rough, until it warms up.

hope this helps

na! i was meaning a cam thats designed to suit EFI vehicles as well as quick ramping to take advantage of it being a roller cam (some dont)

i think the next one i do il get a custom one tailored to suit your whole package ....by one of the cam designers in the states
