drill it out if if you plan on using that one, make a new one. just get a rubber grommet for the new hole and all is good

Heaps of people have done it. If you ever intend converting to manual, stay away from the clutch cable hole. I have an EF and an EL, both are manuals. There are better ways to run it, without drilling holes. The 2 main options are:
1. Below your cruise control unit (and to the left of the brake booster), there is a hole that has a heap of other wired running through it. run your cable through there. This one is a bit tricky, as you cannot see the hole from either side of the firewall.
2. Run it inside the guard, and not through the engine bay. This one looks a not neater, as you are not running a massive cable through the engine bay. It is also a lot quicker, as the holes are easier to get to. From the battery, you run the cable out of the engine bay (use the hole where the battery box drains to, you can fit the drain, the 0 ga, and the other wiring that would already be there), then go along the guard. There is a grommit already there that has wiring through it. Go Through this grommit, and the cable will appear behind the kick panel (as opposed to right up under the dash)

Hope this helps

I ran it (0g) through a hole up and to the right of the acc pedal.. it may have been the bonnet release cable hole, I cant remember. I made the hole slightly larger with a file, fitted a new grommet and ran the cable through, then put a dab of silicone to seal it completely, and stop any movement.

I've got 0 gauge running through the plate in the fire wall just beside the steering, just drill it out put a gromet around the cable and slide it through the hole, works a treat.
