Its an EA - ~28years old
how many owners has it gone through ? at least the cops and 1 other before your mate got to it. highly think that someone added it for some reason, doubt it had anything to do with the cops though.

What pin did it go to ?

1988

20 years

But i may be wrong cause of some teething issues with the EA1 they used XFs til they fixed all the dramas

In all seriousness it could have been something as simple as the interior light.

i originally thought it could have been a kill switch aswell.
but in saying that if he just removed it the car wouldnt run??

and the interior light has nothing to do with the ecu..
unless when he said computer he ment the body controle module?

also if it was anything to do with it being a cop car i dont think the switch would need to be hidden..

and as said before the ea didnt have a speed limiter.
so untill we know what pin on the ecu it was conected to?
i guess its a mystery..

also you got to remember that not all cop cars are used as hwy patrol or in high speed chases..
it could have just been a general duties car.?

SHOW US SUM PICS????????????????
maybe every e-series has one and we never new it!!!
this could be big. i reckon its like a on and off button for the hidden turbo every e-series has to come on...
take the car to a drag strip, race it, and then race it again with the button pushed in. this button has made me hard....
please email me pics. and maybe even a video with you pushing the button.........

Maybe, because you were 6, you misheard.... unless of course you still are 6... which also explain why you think you can bypass the ecu...

i'd say a kill switch. The car won't go very far with a bypassed ECU

Thats been asked a few times with no answer so far.

Can I ask what logic would there be to having a police car with a kill switch?
