Well the fuel pump shat itself. So, time for a new one!

Are Bosch 044's a straight swap from the factory pump?
Would it be worthwhile putting one in for a non-XR 4 litre? I do intend to up the power very shortly and don't see the point in putting a new standard pump in if I have to replace it in the near future!

Nothing if you don't intend on using more fuel at some stage.
They flow more.

Searched for a few threads.. looks like the Walbro's are the go.

Mine is in an EA Sedan, got it going by feeding it a direct feed from 12v amplifier source, and then reconnected it, car started and I drove it home today...

Got home, tested it 5 times, by turning key to "on", you could here the pump pressurize the line each time, then nothing.. car started, and stalled 2 secs later.. so looks like my pump is shagged..

How do I get it out? There's a big fkn hose clamp around the sender / pump cap in the boot.. It appears that the tank has to be dropped / lowered to undo this hose clamp, and in turn remove the pump.. is this right??

If I get a 255lph pump, do I need to change the regulator? Should I just get a standardish pump? VDO? Car won't see any more upgrades other than the Wade 1636 finally going in over the next few weeks...

Cheers.

Where from? eBay dealer? Which model was it?
Is one of these 255lp/h jobs gonna be overkill, anyone? icon_biggrin.gif

Just tried to get this fkn hoseclamp off that tank lid, and it's well n trully on.. I'm guessing this is the original pump. Had a look underneath, looks like 4 bolts hold those straps / braces to support the tank, I'm just gonna drop the tank when I get this pump (not sure which one yet), can't see how else to get that clamp undone.

yeah, was on Ebay.. private seller bought one for his car then the car got trashed so couldn't use it..

paid 90 bucks for it.. (was a 342 so yes, the 255 one.. but it will work fine as replacement for standard also.

I got a pump out of a wrecked Toyoto Supra Turbo model that looks the same. The replacement part numbers according to HOLLEY are the same, so I guess... I guess I should try fitting it one day and finding out. ...
