With a nice, cold day tomorow and what looks to be a pretty cool evening, I think I'll head down for what may be my last run for the season. See if I can get lower than the 13.9s I've managed so far. Will anyone else be making their way down? |
I'll go down and watch tomorrow, though I will be racing next monday with Perth Falcons, they booked a lane and have about 20 cars already lined up.
Maybe go both days |

Scaffy, i'd love to head down tomorrow but i'll be busy at late night caryard shopping for the missus new car. All the best for tomorrow though, lets bring home some 13.7's , just remember 4000rpm launch, big slip of the clutch and away we go. 60fts should get down to 2.0-2.1.
Just hope the weather holds up. |

Off to Nuford again to beat the dumbass salespeople around the head?
Good luck with it Jeff hope you guys come home with what you want.
Scaffy hope it all goes well, as Jeff says you've got to abuse the clutch over the first 60'. |

I saw a manual XH ute in the Auto trader for $12,500 - Just think, HIS and HERS... hahaha
Yeah guys, the clutch does get abused every time I go down there. I was hoping to go down and abuse it some more tonight but need to let the new diff gears and bearings bed in. I hope to get down there either Monday or Wednesday next week, dependant on the weather. Tonight would have been ideal as it's so cool and quite crisp.
Whoops, did I say diff gears? Yep, I went and got 3.73s fitted and LSD rebuilt at WA Diff Centre today. I've only driven it home from there and I tell you what, I can definately feel the difference. Being 3.23 originally, it's a decent step I think. The lag that was below 3500 doesn't feel anywhere near as bad as it was. It feels to be pulling much harder from down low.
The only problem I have now, is my speedo doesn't read correctly. I think it now needs to be reading 113km/h so I'm actually doing 100. They say I need to get it sorted electronically, however I was under the impression that there's something that needs to be changed in the diff to correct it. Can anyone shed any light on this? |

Hahaha.
Im getting mine in tomorrow. also getting 3.73
There are 2 ways of chaging the speedo, changing the transducer gear, but being 3.7 it will be very fine(each spline) and they tend to be stripped.
The other way is a electronic speedo corrector, I dont know how it works, but I'll be going that route.
Should come down on monday, I'll race ya then. |

Awesome choice mate. Did you get a Kaaz LSD centre or just std LSD?
I bet its gonna feel a hell of alot better now. Mid 13's here we come.
Someone may be able to shed some more light on this, but i think you can buy 3.73 speedo gear drives from ford, just not sure if they go into the T5 or not.
I can however say nothing has to be done to the diff as far as speedo reading goes, its all in the gearbox speedo drive or electronically. |

Jase, if it's not raining I'll be there with bells on! I'm very keen to line up against you and te blown EF. Where are you getting yours done? Who do we see about getting the speedo corrected? I want to get it sorted asap, as I can see it leading to a speeding fine or 2 that I really can't afford.
Jeff, it's just the stock LSD. Another $1600 would've meant no new golf clubs! Haha. Mid 13s will be nice
I've also got her booked in for a couple of power runs on Saturday so I can get a look at the AFRs. Hopefully they're not too s**t. |

AD Diffs.
They quoted me around 1300 .
Speedo correction will be done at BPT. I asked them when I had my injectors fitted and tuned and they reckoned it was no biggy.
Will be good.
If you go down monday, just say your in Perth falcons lane and they will add you to it. Lot of quick cars going down, a few turbo 6's, 3 blown xr8's, nitrous super pursuit, and a few xr8's, a few 6's and a warm XW.
Should be great, forecast looks good too. |

Good stuff. I'll definately be there.
I got a quote from AD Diffs as well but my quote was another 380 on top of that. Did you get a referral from someone? Are you getting gears, lsd rebuilt and all bearings replaced? I could have done with an extra 350 in my pocket... hehe
s**t, I'm really looking forward to Monday now!
Jeff, I think the ute should make an appearance, don't you? |

I think the ute has done for this season. I'll most likely wait untill after the break as that'll leave me plenty of time to get the few other bits together that i need.
Also the Missus new car will be taking abit of priority now, i know as soon as i start playing with it i wont be able to stop I can see this TKO box taking a while for the ute.
Hmm i wonder wha the missus car would run down there??? |

I was trying to check my tps voltage tonight and am having a few problems. I checked out the sticky but still have a couple of questions.
With the ignition on I was getting a reading of 5.00v. With only the accesories on I get a reading of 0.39v. I thought I'd try accessories after ignition as it was so far off. I didn't stick a pin through the wires, rather pierced the wires with the sharp ends on the multimeter probes. This should be ok, right?
I don't want to go adjusting anything just yet because it seems like something's not right to start with. Ages ago, Terry told me that he'd set it to .97v, so I figured it should be at least close to that.
Is it possible to be as high as 5v? |

Sounds about right.
Where were you getting your earth from? one of the TPS screws are good for that, .97v sounds spot on. |

Nah dont use the TPS screws for the earth. Probe the green(?) wire with your red multimeter lead and probe the black wire with your black multimeter lead and get the reading from between the two.
What your doing sounds alright Scaffy, just make sure your probing the wires properly, my multimeters probes arent sharp enough so i push two safety pins into the wires and get my reading off them, just gotta make sure you have a good contact though. Oh and be patient, wait till the m/meter has sat on a specific voltage.
Make sure key is onto ignition and throttle is at its normal closed position.
Should be able to get it set 0.98v. |

| yeah, I'll have another crack tomorrow. Red was in the green wire and black to the black. It was settled at 5v. Hopefully I can get it sussed tomorow. It may explain the rolling idle and crappiness when coming to a stop... |
