|
|
G'day,
I have a 84 hilux that i want to put central locking and an alarm in. I have found complete central locking kits on Ebay for pretty cheap, and ill prob get a decent alarm to.
I have never installed an alarm before, but i have done at least 10 full car audio installations and lots of other electrical work on cars.
Do u think I have the skill? |

central locking kits aren't too hard. just require some lateral thinking with regards to placement of actuators etc...
no experiance with alarms unfortunately.
By the sounds of it, you should have the knowledge! |

| It all pretty easy just make sure when you buy the kits that the alarm kit is compatible with central locking (most are) That way you only have to worry about one remote. For the sounds of it you should be handy with a soldering iron. Just get the wiring diagrams for the hilux so that you'll be able to trace the wires to put in the immobiliser part of the alarm. You'll just have to play around with positioning of the central locking actuators and rods. Good Luck |

| OK, thanks, one other question, regarding central locking, where do u mount the actuators to? Or where are they normally mounted to? |

| They mount inside the door and have a little connecting rod on them that you will have to screw/bolt onto the orginal door locking rods so that your central locking will work. If your lucky you'll be able to just screw them to the inner door skin with out having to modify the door. I hope that helps. |
