Hi everyone, I have an issue with my AU being really light on the steering. Its a good thing in parking, but when driving its too light, and gets worse at higher speeds. Is this just a preference thing, are all AUs like this? Or what could be causing it?

my au is never light i find it great
could be a bad wheel alingment have u hit anythign recently? |

Light steering isnt oversteer, and yes cars get lighter the faster you go. Oversteer is when the back end kicks out.
Dsico Frank - I fail to see how a bad wheel alignment would make the steering light. |

LOL! yeh im back to annoy in fordmods 
erm, nah i havnt hit anything. And I suppose describing it as oversteer probably isnt the right word really. Its just too light for my liking, I loved the feel of my EF, it was nice n tight n firm. Its kinda hard to explain, its like its power steering too much.  Making any sence? probably not. ;p |

Maybe the tyres are overinflated.
Different tyre/wheel combinations can make a big differenece to steering weight.
Maybe put a larger pulley on the pump. |

giver teh girl a break she is learning
depending on the angles the tyres are on it can make it lighter
i know when my au had a bad wheel alignment it was hell light turnign 1 way and a noticeble difference in wieght going the other |

| If a bad wheel alignment made the steering axis more vertical it would make the steering lighter, because you wouldn't be lifting the front end as much every time you turn the wheel. 99% confident of this. |

| Also, the front of my car is reeeeeaaly high. Looks likea strange front end lift kt (soon to be fixed ) errrr so this also might make it light too? |

| Just my 2 cents but I've noticed this in my dads au to, it feels like the wheels aren't on the ground or something compared to our ef's, I just asked him what moms au is like and he reckoned it was similar to his, so it seems like it may just the way au's are. |

I did notice when I bought my EL Xcab was firmer than the wifes AU.... But have since upgraded to a AU myself there is no difference between her AU 160k and mine 825k. I have been told some are really really light. (memories of the old XE comming back) could steer that with one finger. My wife nearly stacked it 1st corner she went around.
Have driven a BA and that was very similar to the EL. |

i took my granddads au for a spin around the block once and it was light as in the steering as well.
having said that, since i lowered mine, the steering has been a bit heavier than factory. |
