Anyone able to confirm or deny that the the same manual shifters are compatible from XF right through to BA on the T5 gearboxes found in the 6 cylinders?

RipShift (http://www.ripshift.com/rip_ford.html) lists the same part number, RSFT5, for XF to AU - 5 speed they don't discriminate whether it is 6 or 8 cylinder. Then for the BA they have different part numbers depending on 6 cylinder or 8, and T5 or T56. But there is no part number for a standard BA T5 in a 6cylinder (only V8), there is a part number for an XR6T with a T5 - RSFT5T - essentially the same part number as above but with a T on the end.

The Autotecnica have the FT5LS (http://www.autotecnica.com.au/performance_17.html) which suits AU T5's and BA Turbo T5s.

so this indicates that what fits on an AU T5 is the same as what is on the BA turbo T5. Then Ripshift indicates that they're the same from XF to AU, so therefore the BA/AU one from autotecnica should fit pre-AU T5's too...

Then there's also the B&M (http://www.bmracing.com/index.php?id=products&sid=3&cat=3&subcat=15) and Proform (http://www.proformparts.com/mistore/productdisplay.php?sku=407957&hdwt=31101&loc=101&dealer=no&company_id=100719) models from the USA market. B&M's shifter for Ford T5's uses the same part number for a variety of US Ford's with T5's from Mustangs to Cosworths. Any idea if these fit the T5 found in our Falcons?

i was talking to a bloke at the clipsal 500 about the billet shifter for my elxr and he said when i pull out my curent shifter i would have to check if somthing was the same length as the new one before i fitted it because there is a difference but ford couldnt tell them what date the change happend and if it wasnt the same id just have to send it back and they would send me the right one so they musnt be compatible. sory i cant remember what he said was different, it was a big weekend.

My Billet shifter was for EA-AU. If you can see BA and AU being the same, it should fit.

AFAIK BA has different hole spacing for the lever but should otherwise be usable. I will be able to confirm this in the next few weeks.

The Herrod sureshift arrived in the post today. Its from a BA XR6T tremec box and I am going to try and transplant it into the T5 on the weekend.

as far as i know, as long as you get a t5 shifter, it'll fit on any 5spd manual from X-BA falcon.

bloody good investment too.

i have a steeda short shifter, much better than stock!

I have found that at least the BA GT and pursuit have a shorter (by 1cm) shaft which means if used on other T5's the ball will not stay in contact with the shift block in all gears.
See the center shifter. http://www.autotecnica.com.au/performance_17.html

I believe that that is because BA GT's didn't have a T5, they had the Tremec TR-3650.

I can confirm the BA T5 and E series shifter are interchangable. I have a factory fitted Herrod Sureshift from a BA XR6T on my EF T5 and I have the EF shifter swapped over to a BA XR6T box I am rebuilding. One could assume that the AU will also work. As twr7cx said the Tremec 3650 is a different story.
