As per the previous email, do you have a HP or a VCT? VCT is fine we can handle that. |

| If your XR6 has a live rear axle it's a HP. If it has IRS it's a VCT. Also, the VCT engine will have "VCT Intech" across the front of the rocker cover above the thermostat cover! |

| So if you put in a Raptor you'll gain a 100kw at the crank,so i don't think you'll miss that 8kw one bit. |

The AU ute is going really well, couldn't be happier with the performance, I have fitted the new generation mounting bracket and know for certain it fits up just sweet.
On sat afternoon I headed out with dirtbike in back of ute for a bit of recreation, about 10 mins out and a couple of young dudes in a Commy VY S decide they are not going to be following a Ford for anything, they made a few risky moves so I just waited for the right time ....... we both ended up behind a truck with me behind the VY and truck in front of that. Now I know the road pretty good so just waited ......... a long straight coming up .... this would be the decider , they pulled out and over took the truck .... I stayed out and over took them also ....... with ease and they had not 1kw left that they weren't using.
All I can say is they were completely owned in no time flat by a loaded up "stock" AU ute
This kit will not disappoint, the bang for buck is UNREAL |

Gave the ute an oil change the other day, went over to Castrol Edge 5/30 synthetic, have been very impressed with the oil in our other car so the Falcon copped it too.
It is a light weight but pretty suitable for a lot of the short running we do and seems to maintain good oil pressure even when its been hammered. Confident this is a good thing, will see if any change in consumption due to it being thinner. |

Pretty sure Castrol Edge is what used to be called "Formula R". I've used that in 5W30 for some 80,000 km of my car's 340,000 km so far, as heavier grades cause a noticeable drop in performance. The recommended oil in Series 1 AU's is 5W30 BTW. I'm not sure when it changed but the oil cap in our Series 3 says 10W30 or 10W40.
As long as the consumption is OK as you say, you shouldn't have any issues with it. I switched back to it at my last change in preparation for bolting some extra power on... have been monitoring the level and no issues so far. Dunno what happened with the last lot of disappearing oil |

| Just out of curiosity Tim, did the tuner get to the bottom of what was happening with the manifold butterflies flattening power when they switched over? What RPM did they end up switching over at? |

Well the AU went into the automatic doctor for the big check up. I wasn't totally happy as it was flaring way too much so decided at 135 000km it could go a serious service. They asked what I wanted to achieve and I said I just want it to shift properly without flaring.
They pulled the valve body out, adjusted/shimmed the clutches which they claim were never correctly adjusted at the factory in the first instance, then tested all the solenoids and tossed out the S5 and replaced with a new item.
Refilled trans with Penrite Synthetic trans fluid (complete flush as well).
Then they wired in a trim pot and installed that on the dash, haven't looked to see where the wires go yet. They said just turn it until you get the firmness you want, fully CCW is stock and full CW is maximum firmness, well I selected 5/8 of a turn and went for it ......... the thing shifts to perfection, like crisp as ...... absolute perfection.
Extremely happy with results but it didn't come cheap. All up the bill came to $807 and about half split on parts/labour. |

Final comment on the last post, I think anyone who doesn't arrange something similar will not get the best from their supercharger install, there is just too much torque at the shift point for the stock auto as it is setup.
I think next thing to organise now is a 6000rpm tune with 5800 shift points, this little combo with auto shifting like it is should run some nice numbers for a low buck system. |
