Thanks Wade. Just fitted a 1636 to my ebii fairmont which already had tickford head and pacemaker 4480;s. It now goes REALLY WELL....Pulls like a train from 2500rpm up icon_biggrin.gif Only down side is aircon stalls motor at idle but I can live with that until I fix it. Again Good Product icon_biggrin.gif

just need to bump up your idle a bit there mate and you should have problems, its a pretty common thing to have to do after fitting a bigger cam

Just reset the battery overnight...... will take up to a week of driving before your car decides to idle properly, all depending how much driving you do.

I wouldnt adjust anything until you give the ecu a chance to re-learn

mid range cams for a 1993 ford telstar tx5 ax 2litre dohc 16valve 5speed manual

Please confirm, are the cams actuated by hydraulic buckets?

Assuming they are, it is very difficult to modify the cams sufficiently to achieve any sort of decent performance improvement.

You either have the option of doing billet cams, assuming they are procurable, or, welding the existing cams ( 16 lobes ), which, at $1,292.00 for the pair, is generally not a consideration.

What cam would you recommend for my planned setup:

Iron head 250 crossflow, with the iron head removed and replaced with a worked alloy head (just a clean up of the ports and upgraded springs) and weber carb from an XF (most likely a C1 head), extractors, 2.5" exhaust, auto, LPG, in an XD stationwagon which will occasionally tow and is the family runabout.

Looking for something that will give improved performance while still being usable with the auto and capable of towing, while still having some manners around town.

The cam grind that l would recommend is our profile no. 1166A10. It will be suitable for the auto, and for towing and be suitable for a daily drive situation.

If you'd care to PM me with an alternative email address, l can send you the specifications as an attachment.

Cheers

Chris

Cheers for the prompt response mate, it may be the family runabout wagon, but I don't see why I shouldn't do it up a bit still, and with that combo it should go much better then it does now without it running like a pig or costing an arm and a leg to run.

Any idea what sort of a power boost I could expect with a setup like that with that cam?

Also PM sent.

Thanks again!

i run a slightly altered 977b in my EF, and have run a normal 977b previously as well.

The first 977b, which kizzer has now, netted me 150kw at the wheels with a custom tune and ran hard even without the tune.

very happy with the cam, pm me if you want anymore feedback

We don't have a network of suppliers as such. You can deal direct.

The price to Fordmods members to grind an E series cam is $135.00. Freight is extra. If we supply an exchange cam, we charge a refundable deposit of $100.00 for the core.

Cheers

OK. With an auto transmission, the 1636 profile would be your best choice.

A practical cam that gives a worthwile improvement in performance whilst still retaining reasonable idle etc.

Questions about the 1521a, btw im running a manual.

What exactly is the reason for aftermarket ecu required? I ask because the 977b says ecu mods preferred, but im getting great performance, fuel economy and idle on stock ecu?

Also what is the basic rev range for the 1521a, is rev limiter removal required to sufficiently run this cam? If it does scream past the stock rev limit, then can the cam be ordered with lower duration to bring the rev range in earlier?

Finally how much for the billet 1521a?
