Posted: Mon May 26, 2008 7:02 pm Post subject: extractors got installed tonight on the EB (now with sound) |
|
|
I bought a pair of extractors off trick_flow a month ago for the right price, and today i dropped my car to Bob at Budget Exhausts in Maryland’s to get them fitted and get the cats modded to fit.
I had an idea that the car would sound a bit different and might have a bit of extra power, but the changed was more than i had first thought, the note is a very deeeeeeep sound and it sounds like a agry v8 when you punch it, and its idle is deeper and smoother.
When i picked the car up tonight i was told when i got there that the back of the gearbox was ready to hit the tar as the bolts that hold the cross member were only holing it by a few threads, oh great lol, then get showed that i need new engine mounts as the others a shagged not nice but i will get that done soon enough.
I could see that the extractors just miss the sway bar buy a few fanny hairs.
So wile i was under there i took 2 photos
Here is how close it is to the sway bar not much in it.
Here is what the cat looks like shortened and flanged.
Here is what FORD call a header on a EB V8, talk about being Jewish
look how restrictive it is. i been told they look like that factory and i said they look like accident damage lol
I will add more photos of under the bonet in the morning with a recording of how it sounds as well.
All up to buy them and have them fitted $420 im a happy camper.
BTW thanks Trick_flow

the cats as you can see are stock, the Y pipe is stock but thats were it ends being stock, from the back of the Y pipe its 2 and a half inch out the back with no resanator at the back and a smaller muffler in the centre.
the extractors i think Trick_flow said they are EL GT copys, i think |

more photos
And you see better on a ricer from 25 years ago, so bloody resticktive
Goto love the design and factory welds here on the pas side header from ford
You can see ford must have had a joke competition the week they designed the header, made 4 square pipes fit into a round one nice work boys..
shots of the extractors fitted
Pas side
Drivers side
if you have these s**t factory headers on you're ford be smarter then the men that designed them f**k them off and get some real extractors.

Good work bill. Sounds great. Looks like the mods are progressing along nicely Good thing they found your crossmember before it dropped completely. It happened to me a few years ago in my old ZC fairlane, when I was overtaking of course Wasn't pretty. Because the crossmember dropped, the front of the engine lifted and the fan cut straight through the top radiator hose and the accelerator cable was pulled tight so it was like I just hit the hammer to the floor. Very scary stuff, it was just lucky I was smart enough to throw it in Neutral and turn the mother f**k off. All this just 2 days after I bought the car from a dealer in Newie, so they paid for the car to be picked up and all repairs.

its going nowhere as when you start the car you can here the harmonic balancer slightly rubbing on the cross member. |
