My son has his music for his ipod on my computer. I now have an ipod and wish to put my kind of music onto it; how do I do it. As I am not technically inclined, information needs to be in plain english.lol

1. When you set up each iPod, be sure to give each one a unique name. You’ll probably do this anyway, but just be sure.

2. When you set up the first iPod, make sure that the “manually manage music” option is checked. This will prevent iTunes from adding all songs to each iPod.

3. Next, create a playlist for each person’s iPod. Name the playlist with their name or something else clear and distinct. Do this by clicking the plus sign at the bottom left of the window and giving the playlist a descriptive name.

4. Drag the songs you want to add to the playlist. This way, everyone can be sure that they only get the music they want. When new songs are added to the computer, be sure to add them to the correct playlist.

5. Update your sync settings for each iPod. Plug each iPod in and go to the “music” tab of the iPod window. There, choose the button reading “selected playlists” and then check off the playlist for each iPod. For instance, if you’ve created a playlist for your son, Jimmy, select the playlist called Jimmy to sync only that music to his iPod when he connects it.

6. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the window. Repeat this for everyone with an iPod in the house and you’ll be all set to use multiple iPods on one computer!

7. Lastly, go back to the main page and uncheck manually manage music. Now each iPod will be automatically synced to its playlist each time it’s connected.

Wow thumpinXF, thank you very much for that. I will get Ryan to set it up and we will get on with putting music onto mine!

Thanks for all the help I have received. We have 2 synced ipods now, but when we record more music to the library we are not able to sync it to the individual ipods. Please help, as it is frustrating us both.

Set up two user accounts in Windows.......

Then when you run i-tunes in each account, it will have it's own seperate library for each user.

You can set up totally different itunes accounts that way and also can just sync 'all music' (from your own library, not your sons) rather than just different play lists....... sort of like having two seperate computers.

Works a treat!

New user accounts are in control panel. It's pretty straight forward......

That is not normal..... I've been using my computer to do several i-pods like that for years on a few different computers, so it's not a fluke.......

You must have a problem with your itunes program or something, 'cos it should sync without any drama's at all!
