Britek Motorsport drivers Jason Bright (Fujitsu Racing) and Marcus Marshall (IRWIN Racing) along with team representatives have joined other officially supported Ford drivers and teams as Ford Australia officially unveiled the new generation Falcon FG racecar at Sandown.

The new aggressive looking Falcon is already a hit with Britek Motorsport some eight months ahead of its race debut at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

“Ford and everyone involved in the project have done an excellent job with the FG Falcon,” said Bright.

“Our group has been involved with briefings and viewings of the car for many months now, but it’s always exciting to see the finished product.

“This car has to go through the homologation process, including back-to-back testing with the Commodore to ensure a level playing field. I’m sure that will be a straight forward process and from a Britek point of view we can then look forward to getting our hands on shells and building cars over the last quarter of this year.

“Importantly this process will not distract us from our 2008 campaign, including such events as Bathurst.”

Britek Motorsport Chief Engineer Geoff Slater was impressed with the FG Falcon.

“As an engineer I can fully appreciate the amount of work that’s gone into the FG Falcon racecar,” said Slater.

“The result is a very clean looking car externally, but underneath they have done an outstanding job with the engineering of the vehicle.

“For our engineering group we are being provided an outstanding base to start from and that has us all excited ahead of the FG Falcon’s race debut in 2009.”

Pitty about the long gap between the release of the FG falcon and when well see one on a track - i would of thought it would of been good advertising to have had the car ready for this season.

as if they would have it ready by this season!

would have meant some teams have access to the car ( not just a drive and review ) way before the public
which i think they did but not by much.

we will prolly see a few of them ready for the last few rounds on some of the top 10 ford teams who cant win teh championship
