Have got the ED 5.0L EFI NA on engine dyno at the moment.
Am using 70mm BBK TB & Edelbrock Performer Manifold & RPM Heads 2.02 intake valves with Comp XE276HR cam with 1.7 RR's. ECU is Motec M800. Running individual coils & 42lb injectors.
So far have 360 fwhp.
At full throttle the engine is trying to suck more air than the 70mm TB will allow thru.

Is there is anyone here in Perth who has a 75 or 78mm TB that I could borrow for a day or 2 so we can make sure that this is the issue? Can pickup & return.

Also are the Edelbrock Performer 5.0L upper and RPM upper interchangeable - ie can use the same lower. Is the RPM upper more suited to that cam?

Richie.

RPM upper is interchangeable, but first have to find one. At that power, 70mm TB should be enough. What is the MAF? As for if the intake is suited for your cam, I remember seeing some fairly similar combos on Corral but if it were me, don't believe everything you read and try it for yourself. Find a 75mm TB and RPM upper, change and see what happens for yourself.

Rich

That HP figure seems about right for that set up and you may get a poofteenth more with a bigger TB but I doubt anything meaningfull.

My question would be what's with the 42lb injectors as rather than an air issue unless the Motec is a really good controller at WOT it would be more like an overfueling issue if you consider the engine has more in it icon_biggrin.gif

I'd be looking at testing some 24's before looking at TB's.

Using MAP as opposed to MAF.
As for the 24's - we were trying to get away from a high duty cycle & the 42's are probably more suited for the 331 build.
At WOT we still have vacuum.

If you have vacuum at the T/B at WOT then it is a restriction (or there is a restriction in the intake pipe/air filter).

I tried our customer who has a 75mm TB, no answer yesterday... I'll try again today for you.

I think Richie has got hold of my old 78mm job(a 70 we bored out) from Shannon. We'll see how that goes.
Did you try the 70 without any inlet tubing Richie?

Yep - thanks guys - picking up the 78mm tonite.
Have tried with / without airbox & piping - no difference.
Discussed with Bottledup - with that cam & heads - manifold may be cannot supply enough air. May look at RPMII or take the die grinder to the performer 5.0.
Will know tomorrow.

Richie.
