i have a 1993 eb II. theres absolutley no spark. iv tried another coil (unknown condition) with no luck, iv also tested the fusible links, still with no luck. is there a relay or fuse before the coil which could be blown? as far as i can tell there are no other problems electronically. thanks in advance.

i plugged a timing light between the coil and dizzy, cranked the engine and had nothing which leads me to believe the problems before the distributor. whats the TFI module?

the tfi module is on the side of the dizzy and the harness plugs into it..
they are a common failing point on thr e series falcons unfortunatly

Yup, I'd bet it's the TFI, easy enough to fix really, still a PITA when it happens.

If your vehicle has smartlock then check that because this is exactly what happened to me and the car had fuel but kept cranking over like it was empty..

There was no pulse at the injectors. A new dizzy/coil later the same thing.
Replaced smartlock module and tada! Fixed....

Check the fuse "CRT LP". The same thing happened to me and it was this fuse that caused it

I'd put my money on the TFI module. It's the grey thing on the side of the distributor.

i just checked the coil using a multimeter, theres approx. 12 volts going in, @ about 4 amps. when i plug a spark plug into the high tension lead coming out of the coil, ground it and crank the engine, i have nothing. took the coil off and found the resistance to be approx. 7k ohms, found online that this number should be between 10 and 11k. coil gone? im tipping yes.

i tested 2 other coils i had lying around, one off aa eb and one off an ea and both of them read the same as the one out of my car. as far as i know the cars that the spare coils came out of were running fine when removed. could it be the smartlock module? keeping in mind that i have power to the coil.

I reckon just bung on a new TFI module. cost ya 20 bucks, and see what happens. I had same problem with EB last year (not mine), no spark. TFI and an hour or so fixed it. icon_cool.gif icon_biggrin.gif

i hear you, its just that i dont have power coming out of the coil, cant imagine it couls be the tfi module when thats on the dizzy side of the coil. if just put a spare smartlock module in, gonna program it and see how that goes.
