Franks gone green cause my crappy little E series will punish his little blue smartie. icon_biggrin.gif

T2TE50 we may have to compete in power stakes as both our cars engines are pretty much the same.

When mine is sorted and the strip opens up again. I'll give it a blat. My last run was a 15.8

Jeff or Scaffy if I still suck at drags (and lets face it I probably will) you boys will have to come down and show me what my car can do.

I think it will be a pretty close comparison. Plus Timmeh, your is a REAL "stock" engine icon_wink.gif. Oh but he wont like you having the tune done.

15sec ET's will definately be a thing of the past.
I'd be more than happy to show you what it'd be capable of, but i'd rather you get the hang of it and become as addicted to it as i am icon_lol.gif

Cant help the tune. Its a must not a want.
As long as they get the AFR to 12.5:1 I'll be happy. I'll pick up power for sure. But with their other tweaking I should get a lot more. 250RWHP I would be stoked with.

Basically so far I've modded my stock engine with Ford bits from newer cars and I've flowed more air than my EEC can give fuel to.
Here is a quick update on the exact mods done.

70mm Tickford TB (EGR removed)
GT40P heads with 1.94" intake valve and 1.54" exhaust (bigger than standard)
3" exhaust after cats.
Port matched Explorer manifold (upper to lower and lower to heads, heads intake was already CNC by YT)
AU 220kw XR8 cam and 1.7 roller rockers.
Coolant blocked off to TB and manifold
BPT Under drive race pulleys.
BPT thermostat (Always sits on 'L')

What will be fitted just prior to custom tune

24lb injectors (to replace the 19lb ones)
75mm ELGT MAF.

Then the custom tune will commence.

All this done on my lovely EL 2 XR8 manual.

I've organised the Capa Switch Chip from BPT but there is also TwEECer.
Anyone want to tell me which one I should get and why?

Here is me at the drags for the first time in a V8. 15.8 was my previous best.

Pete, looking at the fact the 19lb injectors aren't feeding enough fuel due to the eec not being able to keep up, I wonder if by putting the 24lb injectors alone could solve your problem? It more than likely won't, but my basic logic tells me that you need more fuel and by fitting the 24lb injectors your EEC would still think you have 19s in there and the 24s would be feeding more fuel than it actually thinks it is.

There will probably be a plethora of problems that this would create at idle and part throttle, which isn't that practical as we don't spend all day at WOT.

It'd be interesting to see if the guys at BPT could change the injectors out and put the car on the dyno before changing anything else and see how it goes...

Can someone please now come and tell me what a crap idea this is and the reasons why?

Its not crap Scaffy as the guy at MCE said the same thing and it was something I was thinking too.
But hey may as well get a tune to go with it cause the GT MAF will be supplying more air again. I measured the MAF and its 75mm and the TB is 70mm.

I will ask them to record the first run with the 24lbs (Again in out in out in etc icon_lol.gif) and see if we are all correct.

Back to the tuning side of things.
I've just talked to Barry and he said the Capa Switch Chip is the way to go cause the guy who does TwEECer in the states is not interested in the TwEECer much now and its hard to get support for it. Also Barry said there have been some binary errors on the TwEECer which I have read elsewhere and you can end up changing something you don't want to.

So I'll be sticking to the CAPA Switch Chip Eliminator.

I just want my AFRs to be good and of course 250rwhp wouldn't be too bad either icon_wink.gif

I'll clean up this thread a bit too.

You can PM XR9UTE cause he and Barry have a chat about TwEECer on the weekends. They have both said the same thing to me in regards to the support for it.

Yeah i got the switch chip. I was recommended twEECer by BPT but my ECU didnt like it when Terry was tuning it so we used the switch chip. What I wanted at the time was to have something I can plug into a laptop and have realtime data etc (TwEECer RT). CBF spendin more money on the computer though to acheive nothing more than a bit of wank factor icon_razz.gif would still be uber-cool to have. icon_smile.gif

I'm suspecting that I've got around 180kw at the wheels know. Quality welding from me old mate Neville at PRO HEADS.

I'm predicting about 180rwkw. 185rwkw would be ideal cause then it really would be a EL 2 XR8 185kw.

I need to wash my car at the moment. It looks like a trashy whore with all this rain we've been having and crap roadworks etc. I feel sorry for her.

I'll look into it a bit later probably. Not sure what to go with. Upgrade coil and dizzy and cap. That would be the extent of it.

The car is tuning is all done at BPT. I'll pick it up tomorrow morning (probably the wife will though, I'm as crook as a dog).

Can't wait to find out the total power at the bags.

So there we have it all finished...........for now.
