Hey guys,

In regards to my car running funny, i got it diag'd today, and it turns out its all because of the "resistor trick" so i'm going to install a manual ecu.

My question is, will a GLI manual ECU affect anything Fairmont? as in cluster/CC/trip etc? Will everything work as it should?

I'm not at all sure about this, so i wanted to check. I think all that is BEM controlled, but just to be sure. icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks Lads

IIRC, all of the climate control, trip etc etc is hooked up to the BCM/BEM and not the ECU, so you should be fine

(BCM - Body Control Module)
(BEM - Body Electrics Module)

I have another interruption to butt in with here... When I put a ECU from my Fairmont wagon into my Futura it fixed the missfiring sixth cylinder... No worries - I was totally running on five cylinders with the old Futura ECU.

I have a theory that the injector is a bit buggered and the computer burnt itself out trying to tell it to open all the time... There is no fuse or anything between the injector and the computer, so it possibly could happen!

Anyway, I am now getting a slight miss again when sitting at around 1400-2000rpm with foot barely touching the pedal. When I changed the computer this went away for about 2000km, but is now creeping back in to the cars equations. I am going to put another injector in but since I have to pull the whole dash out for the dash, high series BEM and climate control thing anyway, so maybe I should change the loom from the computer to the injectors whilst I am at it? Or maybe that requires too much effort?

I have an ED GLI Manual ECU in my EB II Ghia without any issues in relation to cruise, climate, trip comp & so on. Everything works as it should.

Cheers
